can a thread in A&S survive without becoming a VC argument? Really now, I'd like to know.

VC transcends both advocacy and safety, so probably not very long.

I figure that HH's prompt response in support of his brand answers your question.
3 minutes.
Not even, the question itself was it's own answer.
3 minutes.
I was hoping for a few days. :(

"Bike Helmets: how old is too old" has gone over 4 days with more than 100 posts without a single word of VC.... apparently when a helmets' effectiveness has expired is controversial enough on its own!
Whatever, as long as it stays in the separately designated A&S lane, not out getting in the way of *real* bandwidth traffic.

Yes, VC is more than advocacy, more than safety...it's a way of life. It's the Kung Fu of bicycling.
(Once again, you're a good sport, Serge. ;))

I hope you know I was kidding! ;)
By the way, if there was any doubt about this thread becoming a "VC/non-VC" thread, it's gone, now.
:D
depends on what lane your in. ;0)
Keep Cycling!
Next question: how long before it becomes a series of personal attacks?
Because, as we all know, Expatriate, Helmet Head, Chipcom and Rando are donkey-mugging hobos that like to eat warm mayonnaise from the dumpster outside the old folks' home. On the other hand, Twahl, Krispisstofferson, AlmostTrick and KnhoJ are big liars - they don't actually ride bikes; they work for Detroit and post the stupiest comments they can think of here in order to discredit cyclists (they also have space-herpes). And in conclusion, Donnamb, LittleBigMan, SanRensho and kb0tnv were born of mommas so fat, when they ride a bike, they need XXL panniers for their buttcheeks, and fenders to keep the four-foot-long hairs growing out of the warts in their armpits from getting caught in their tires as they ride over the skulls of babies.

But it has deviated in multiple post from helmet expiration to whether wearing a helmet is necessary.Closely held beliefs run deep

I hate mayo.
[edit] At least I think I do. I've never actually eaten mayo, so I can't really say I hate it.

Cool, I'll stay away from vegemite, and you avoid mayo, and the planet is balanced.

I'm deeply offended - that wart is on the tip of my witchy nose, not my armpit. Get it straight, buddy!

I have no choice with the vegemite. Every time I think I'll give it a try, turns out we got a bad batch - it's all brown and smells terrible.
