So, i'm really diggin' the Jake the Snake...I have never ridden road before, so I thought this would be a good way to start...plus I get the comfort of being able to take it off road...anyone else have one? good? bad?

Somehow I never thought of Jake the Snake as someone who likes to be ridden. Besides he is probaly all slippery from all the baby oil he uses to get that sweaty shine and you might slide off. The snake might get pissed too. :D

The JTS is a nice machine. I like the lime green of the 2007 models and I have ridden a 2005 that belongs to a friend of mine. There a couple of things I don't particularly care about on the 2007 model such as a carbon fibre fork and the reduced gearing. I seriously considered purchasing a 2006 model but the LBS here was out of stock and no further machines in my size were available from Kona. That being said you will be hard pressed to find another bike in that price point with that amount of good stuff on it like 105 shifters and derailleurs. I wound up buying a Surly Cross Check complete which is basically the equivalent of the JTS save with a steel frame and bar con shifters. The Surly is also more flexible if you ever thought about putting on racks etc as my friend discovered when his JTS rebelled against being heavily laden.

Yeah, I just noticed that as well, I would really like to put a rack on my rack. I suppose I could run one via the axle..? I am also getting a trailer tho, a B.O.B. ibex trailer probably(I like the suspension!) So maybe i'll just get a seatpost bag for the bike. I also don't like the '07 carbon fork, but you get 10 speed for this year, and you can always swap out the rings out up front if you need more gearing...:) wicked bike!

It's a good bike, with lots of positive reviews to it's credit, I say go for it. You have my permission. ;)

A guy I used to ride with did a cross country ride on a JTS, and he didn't have any big complaints about it.

Nope, I never had one, but my experience tells me this: If it's a Kona, it's GOT to be GOOD! :D
