Since there aren't enough rides going on...

Anyone interested in a Monday morning ride in OC? Not too early... 8am or later. We're thinking of keeping it fairly mellow, as some will be recovering from the GMR ride on Saturday. Open to ride ideas. Santiago Canyon comes to mind.

Optionally, I'll throw out the idea of a post-ride Labor Day BBQ at my place. Swimming pool and jacuzzi, included. Even if you can't/don't ride, you're welcome to come hang out with bike dorks.

RIDE INFO UPDATE:

START/END:
MY PLACE IN THE CITY OF ORANGE, NEAR 55/CHAPMAN AND 22/TUSTIN. PM ME OR OTHER RIDERS FOR MY ADDRESS/CELL.
(alternatively, we could meet at the Tustin Market Place, then drive back to my place afterwords, but so far people seem okay with riding from my place)

START TIME:
ROLLING BY 9AM.

ROUTE:
SANTIAGO CANYON, APPROX 42 MI, MODERATE PACE, NO DROP

POST RIDE BBQ:
MY PLACE, 1PM OR WHENEVER WE GET BACK. BRING SWIMSUIT IF YOU WANNA COOL OFF. WILL HAVE BURGERS & DOGS. FEEL FREE TO BRING MORE. ALL ARE WELCOME - DON'T HAVE TO RIDE TO EAT!

Not necessarily. Just make sure the neighbors don't call the cops if people are drinking and eating in your yard while you aren't home.

Anti-social, how does he/she react to other dogs? Our Pom, the real Pico, loves company of any species. Although he goes absolutely nuts with excitement until he has been able to greet everyone.

Actually, it's funny, she tends to get along with animals that are SMALLER than she is.... At least that's how it was when we lived in our apt. and there were other small dogs around. In our neighborhood now, though, there aren't too many small dogs and she wants to destroy anything bigger than her. Our dog is big for a Pomeranian at 10lbs... IIRC, yours is quite a bit smaller? They might just be friends...

I'm guessing since EVERYBODY is doing GMR on Sat, many wont want to ride again so soon. At least come for the BBQ... and potential for cheap wine!

Yeah, I was kinda wiped after I rode GMR... actually it was the lifts that did me in. We can always alter Monday's route if Santiago Cyn is a bit much.

mateo44

Of course!

I may very well be wiped after GMR -- also, Melissa is dragging me out for a ride on Sunday, since she's missing Saturday's ride. So I may be seriously goldbrickin' it on Monday. At least on any grade > 0.5%.

I'm probably supplying the burgers 'n' dogs... maybe some chicken if I'm not lazy (buy I am), so I'll leave the pie to someone else.

Hey Fixer, what time do you think you'd make it down, (if you are free)?

Hey Fixer, what time do you think you'd make it down, (if you are free)?

To be honest with you, I have no idea at this time. I need to check my books to see what time I closed shop last Labor Day. BTW what time were you planning on starting the BBQ?

chimivee

BTW what time were you planning on starting the BBQ?
Well, that's why I'm asking... It'd be great if you can make it, and we can try and plan around your schedule to some extent. At this point, I'm guessing it would be a mid-day BBQ. If we hit the road at 9am, rode Santiago at an easy pace, we'd be back around 12 or 1pm (depending if we start/end at my house, or meet somewhere else). So depending on that, meat should be grilling by 1 or 2pm! But again, still planning and I'm flexible. Others feel free to input.

Looks like I'm definitely out for the bbq. Tara's (dd) keiki hula class was invited to perform at the Hello Kitty Boardfest (http://www.boardfest.com/) on Monday. I can't pass that up. :D

I plan to join in on the ride though - I just may have to cut out a bit early depending on what time I need to get dd ready by.

Thank you James. But please go ahead and plan your ride and BBQ according to your convinience and schedule. I'll do my best to work around your schedule so please do not delay anything you're planning on my account...:)

I'm not going to be online too much during the weekend... so hopefully we can get this squared away today.

Are we cool with Santiago Canyon? I know this is often started at the Tustin Market Place. But, since we'll be coming back to my place, I think it would be convenient to start there. It only adds about 4-5 mi. Total mileage, last I checked, was about 42 mi.

Here's the "normal" Santiago Cyn route in red. But, if we start at my place, we can go up Chapman (or side streets) from my place, to the corner of Jamboree & Santiago Cyn, and take Santiago Cyn from west to east. After going through Santiago Cyn, and wrapping around to the Tustin Market Place, I normally cut through Tustin back to my place in Orange. This bypasses Jamboree.
