Yesterday - 21 miles in 2 rides

So happy for you. I know I've got a bad case of the blues from not being able to ride. Have FUN!

Does this mean that you will be posting less as you will out riding- or prostrate on the couch recovering? Don't think it will be the case, but take it steady for a couple of rides. The back may be better but the legs have not had enough exercise recently.
Its great to get back after a low spell. Well done for doing it so quickly.

Good to hear it. My biggest fears are injury and sickness that keeps me away from the bike. I've been riding 25 years almost daily and can't stand it not to ride. Glad to hear you are back out!

Congratulations Dnvr,
It is nice to heal up and be able to ride
again after a time away from the bike.
Enjoy Summer going into Fall. It promises
to be a nice time of year here in south California.
I did 30 miles yesterday on my Rhoades Car,
finishing the trip up at dusk going into darkness
last night and had a marvelous time. Fall promises
crisp evenings with clear blue skies too, and I can
hardly wait.
Hope you folks have a good one.

Great DF. I know the pain of back injury. Years ago, I had severe spasms in my lower back. as a young aggressive bike racer-wanna-be, I felt like I could not afford to take a few weeks off training to let things settle down. So I got some big-ass Darvon's from my doc. Ignoring his advise to not ride, I took a couple of them and set off. About 5 miles later I darn near crashed as I was literally falling asleep on my bike. I barely made it home and proceeded to sleep for about 4 hours in the middle of the afternoon. I decided that I should rest for a few weeks before riding again. It took about a month for my back to settle down and to be able to ride again.

My strain was complicated by acute bursitis in the left hip. And, each time the acute bursitis has happened over the years, it has taken just about 3.5 weeks to not be in excruciating pain again.
Must be nature's time schedule!

How'd you tweak your back?

How'd you tweak your back?
Mashed my left pedal with my knee sticking out to the left to get around a corner fast with traffic coming (also didn't shift down). It was not a good "line" back to my body, and screwed up the gluteus medius, piriformis and the Tensor Fascia Lata. As over the years (from a prior injury) I have been sensitive to acute bursitis in the left hip, I also developed that.
I developed extreme spasms with incredible pain, and thought, "Hey, Fox - you can just work through this." But, that didn't work, and I had to have some therapy, etc.
Everything now feels great.
Thanks for asking.

Good for you Dnvr, When my back gives me problems usually a ride helps it.
Hey, Ho! Way to go!
Now, you've just got to find those old Karen Burt articles on keeping your back healthy... I believe Velonomad may have some copies of 'em.

It usually works for me, also. In this case, a 21 mile ride (yes, it was really dumb on my part) in the middle of the episode a couple of weeks ago just made things twice as bad, and sent me back to the start with the same pain again, only worse!
