Pacific Northwest - Portland Roadies: Labor Day weekend...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Anyone doing any riding? I'm bored!
You could always come down to SoCal and join the huge BikeForums ride this Saturday. :D (link (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=221748)) Yeah, it's a long ways, but how often do you get a chance to meet a few dozen fellow BikeForums roadies in one fell swoop? :)
Saturday morning is open for me....

What, I thought you quit riding? ;)
I'd love to join you guys, but I'm out of town starting tomorrow afternoon.

If we want to do something down salem say that would be fine with me, how bout you Rad?
I "might" be interested. I have to be in Salem Saturday evening. Although 50 is way too far for me. I did 50 last weekend at the Portland Century 40-miler (we got lost... more than once). Plus, I can't hammer like you guys so... I'm thinking something like 30-miles. Sorry to disappoint.
I'm willing to come to Salem - it'd be fun. 2thy and I can pool it.
I'd like to be home in the afternoon no later than 2. Maybe do 50-60 starting at 8:30/9 am?
Oh sure...put the pressure on me... uh.... We could head out over the river through west salem..hit some of the vine ride route, and come back through independence..then depending on time we could choose to extend it out or come back in the fast way. Its around 50 miles with a decent amount of climbing... but its beautiful country..vinyards....horses....female cyclists.... (hopefully)
You guys still having trouble deciding? Just carpool it all the way to SoCal already. :D We'd be happy to have you join us on our huge ride. 58 miles, 7600 vertical feet. Optional extensions or shortenings of the route. Enough riders attending (perhaps 40-50?) that everyone should be able to find a small group of ride buddies of comparable speed.
if anyone is heading to Sunriver, i am climbing bachelor on Saturday morning with a buddy. we will be moderately hung over as we were last year.
slow we will be... hell, we don't climb all that fast anyway, but hey, no one passes us on the way down.
so we got that much.
i believe it was an 80 mile loop that we will do again this year.
no set time as of now.. but early seems best, looking at the weather.
pm is welcome.

I'm a porland n00b looking for a ride this weekend. I'd be up to anything up to a 50 or so. I'm a bike only guy, so no trip to salem for me. Just the commute would burn up my 50.
I'm off fri and sat. feel free to e-mail. I put an add up on bike portland for this same thing lol

Jakey, Where are you guys meeting on Saturday morning?. I think Rad should put together a Sherwood ride so I don't have to drive so far :D.
Honestly I don't care. I'll drive... But I was thinking if we ride down here, we'd meet at the same place we did when you came down last time.

I'd be up for a ride Saturday morning, too- but would prefer something closer to Portland due to time... If that works with anyone, I'd suggest a route I found on 'Rubber to the Road II', which I did most of recently: A great figure 8 route in the NW hills Utilizing Thompson, Skyline, Old Cornelius Pass Rd, Springville, etc. There's some good climbs, rolling hills, scenic farmland, and glorious descents. It's marked as 42 miles, but with a few big climbs it feels like a little longer.
But I'd be up for whatever, just throwing this out there...

We seem to have a serious case of indecision.
I propose, since Jakey is willing to come to town, that we meet in the KMart lot at I-5 and Tualatin/Sherwood road at 9 am.
If Gonesh and Fishmel are willing to get there, that will make at least 5 of us.
MrBallistic and a buddy are riding from somewhere in Lake Oswego at 9 am also. If I hear from him, or if he checks in here, we could go join them - it sounded like an interesting route.
Otherwise, we can take off from KMart and go wherever. Hagg Lake is a great loop - I'm always up for that - even though 2thGrinder and I did it a couple weeks ago.
If Fishmel and Gonesh aren't willing to come that far south, we can either meet them somewhere in town or go to plan B, which has 2thGrinder and myself headed to Salem to meet with Jakey.
I'm up for anything. Please weigh in.

I'm up for anything, too. I'd be willing to head to Sherwood if that makes it easier. Who wants to decide???

I-5 south from Portland, Nyberg Rd. Exit. K-Mart is right there.
7655 S W NYBERG RD
TUALATIN, OR
97062
9 am at KMart it is.
Don't look for the Nyberg exit though. Look for Tualatin-Sherwood Rd. Exit. Right after Boones Ferry.
See you there.

I'll be there by 9. Don't forget the sunblock or we will burn!
Have fun guys, I came down with a serious sore throat yesterday. Now I am just hoping to get some riding in sunday or monday.
Damn... I'm out too. Sorry guys but I had a call this morning to show the house. Looks like I'm cleaning most of my morning. Anyone wanna buy a townhouse? Have a fun and safe ride.
PS: I'm not doing so good. I keep cancelling on you guys. Pretty soon, I'm going to be that guy who's known as "the cancel guy". :(

Great ride, guys-
Oregon countryside riding at its finest. Between the heat and trying in vain to hang with Fishmel on the climbs I'm pretty beat, but great ride none the less.

I always figure what comes around goes around and you'll be there when I need hauled in.
How far did you guys end up going :( Sorry again that I couldn't make it. Eventually, we're all going to have to exchange emails and phone numbers if threads keep moving like this ;) Hahaha!!!
