Mountain Biking - When did they stop making Trek 6000s?

I just bought a used, but very lightly used, Trek 6000. Nice starter bike, light aluminum frame, decent components. Great for riding the trails along the Pacific Ocean here in Northern California.
I'm trying to figure out how old the bike might be. Does anyone know when Trek discontinued the 6000? Was it around 2000?
Thanks for your help.

yup, 2000 or so. They didn't really stop making them, they pretty much go by the name of 4300 these days. I used to ride a 6000. Decent bikes, but I never liked the stock drivetrain much.
Well this year 07' they are eliminating the 4900 and bringing back the 6000

I liked the old 7000 myself.
