General Cycling Discussion - Cycling Survey - Give your opinions

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hi,
I am a student from the University in Canterbury in New Zealand. I have made up this survey so I can learn about the behaviour and personalities of all kinds of riders (mountain, road, BMX, etc). The information I gather will be used to write a promotional plan for a university assignment. Participants will remain anonymous, and all the information collected will be keep confidential and used for this university project only.
Your participation would be greatly appreciated. The survey has just over 10 easy questions and it will probably only take you 1-2 minutes.
Here is a link to the survey:

If anyone has any questions please email me.

Thank you again,
Nick

I not start getting spam from some company in New Zealand now!
Someone asking a favor of both the forum and it's members is behaving rudely when he spams the same message several times across the forum.
Yo, Mr. OCP fashion advisor - should we lose this? I'm afraid to touch the link.

It's fine, just a short anonymous survey. I did it.

I think there is intent here beyond a cycling buddy doing some sort of paper or whatever. It starts innocent, but then the focus is all on buying cycling clothes on line....smells of a company doing this.
Link safe Rad...maybe it should go....you check it out....you got the blue star buddy!
Yeah, I checked it out - it appears harmless. Though it does seem to be a bit too professional for a university project.
Posing as a collegian "doing a school project" is one of the oldest tricks in the book - especially for younger professionals.

Yup...that's my call on it.
Now, as long as we are talking fashion, cycling and ordering on line....
Just ordered a nice pair of Quickstep bibs for 45 bucks....pro bike kit....sweet.
My LBS has a Quickstep jersey on the sale rack for 45 too.
I haven't bought any new clothing for riding all season....(Oh, except for the kit in Paris, but I mean come on, man can not live on one new Paris kit alone.)

This sums up the survey:
If you are developing a line of cycle clothing do the following!
Don't charge $50 + for jerseys. For God's sake they are made from polyester and that crap does not cost that much. In other words a cycling jersey should cost no more than $20 and maybe $25 with nice graphics.
Shorts and tights................bottom line, I am a cheap a$$! I won't pay $50 + for tights and shorts! Shorts should cost no more than $15 point blank! Tights with chamois no more than $25 point blank!
If you charge too much, I don't buy or wear your crap simply put!
If you can do this I will be a customer! If not............get off this BB and subjecting me to this crap!

It's an online survey site. Anyone can sign up and make their own survey. That's why it looks professional. You just pick the questions and answers you want, and the script builds the survey.

And it's short. I have never known a marketing guy to be brief.

I have seen a couple of posts like this one. E-mail me a copy of the quiz and I'll snail mail it back to your local Bobbies where you can pick it up.

Thanks, but I don't care to share my purchasing habits with an apparent vendor.
I'm stoked to hear you think its a good survey! I am a student, to prove it I will give you more information about the project I am doing.
This is for a paper called MGMT318 (Promotion and Advertising). Myself and 4 others are in a group writing a promotional plan for a New Zealand based cycle clothing company. I am doing this survey to test how cyclists internationally feel about buying cycling products online, how they feel about New Zealand made products, and what they think and want in cycling products. From this information we will write a promotional plan which will be marked by my lecturer to hopefully get us a good grade. This is the last paper I need to do until I recieve my BCom degree, so the standard of work is expected to be very high.
Thanks to all who have filled out the survey, I promise you will not get any spam (nor do I understand how that would be possible seeing as it annomsys, and you are not required to provide any details).
Nick
Nick- Ignore the knuckleheads.....they are probably the same people who also complain that no cycling apparel company makes anything to suit their needs....but when they think one is asking, the scandal.
Good luck on your project.
Cheers Ziemas.
Does anyone know of any really popular European or UK bike forums? So far around 95% of those who have completed the survey have been from the USA, which is great, but I was also hoping to get a bit of a response from the European and UK markets.

Survey was strange. I don't see how you will get much good info. What does riding style have to do with clothes? A better survey would have been a perceived need survey broken down by item:
jerseys
prefer long sleeve or short
prefer hi visibility or not
preferred material: check list
maximum price point: check list
average price paid: check list
example of current favorite jersey: fill in
other requirements for jersey purchase: fill in
repeat for: shorts, pants, wind breakers and anything else you want to consider
finally poll:
number of clothing items purchased in last year: check list
number of above items purchased via internet: check list
what clothing items currently have enough choices for you: check list
what clothing items currently have insufficient choices: check list
Explain what is missing in current commercial selections: fill in
I've never seen any products that are made in New Zealand... not one.

Good luck with your project, Nick. My wife and I spent a fantastic 4 weeks in NZ back in 1989. Great people; beautiful country.

We wore jersies and shorts made by Canterbury of NZ during my rugby-playing days. It was very good gear.
