Advocacy & Safety - Rochester Anti-Cycling Idiocy

Rochester NY craigslist has been having a very intelligent debate about cyclists riding on the right side of the white line for a short while now. This genius thought it would be a good idea to drop the following point.

If there was a cyclist on the road, still one of the drivers (most likely) caused the crash. Just like wet pavement is not the reason you spin out.

Pure speculation anyways.

Someone was not MOTORING according to the universal "no faster than is safe" basic speed law.

ALDEN, N.Y.-- A head-on collision killed two pickup truck drivers in Erie County Wednesday morning.

It happened in the town of Alden. Sheriff's Deputies said that Peter Galloway and Nichlos Bator collided into each other while driving early in the morning. The crash closed the road for several hours.


No word on what caused the crash

Stay to the right of what line? And what does two pickup truck drivers have to do with bicycles?

If they were passing a bike, and didn't see another oncoming pickup truck, just imagine if the cyclist WAS on the shoulder and not as visible as in the actual lane. Guess who gets hit then.

How can a cyclist have caused this? We all know pickups don't bother to change lanes to pass cyclists.

Perhaps it was a ghost cyclist, that might scare a truck enough to change lanes.

Good point. Maybe there was a wrong-way cyclist and they were confused about which one of them was supposed to buzz it.

This pickup driver does and I make sure it is safe to pass, otherwise I wait...and block traffic:p

A ghost cyclist. I saw two the other night on a late-night ride--just came from nowhere. I'm glad they saw my light, because I didn't see them until they got about 20 feet in front of me. I hope they were ghosts, because the alternative is just too scary.
