Does anyone know if any of the European races, particularly the classics, are broadcast on short wave? If so are they ever in English? I have thought from time to time about getting a little short wave set. This would probably encourage me to do it. And maybe even learn French so I can understand it!

Shortwave I am not sure of, but you can hear many of them on real audio on Eurosport, www. eurosport.com.

Not every race is on live audio, but a lot of them are. Last year I remember listening to Paris Roubaix and other spring classics, as well as the giro.

Well radio is a bit old fashioned nowadays, isn't it?:) There are quite a few races broadcasted on the internet. Some have own homepages and are updated every minute during the race. The eurosport-live-coverage is very helpful, but the races they don't broadcast on tv are usually not in reach. Some major races have homepages, where you can follow some written live-coverage. Some races in the Benelux-area are live updated on sportwereld.clickx.be.
The only problem is with the latter, that it is written in Dutch (Flamish), but I can understand it a little bit and so it is helpful for me. But with written comments you might be able to find your way through if you buy a dictionary.

You probably already know about it, and the coverage isn't even European, but if anyone is interested, AdventureSportsRadio (http://www.adventuresportsradio.com/pages/838932/index.htm) will be providing coverage for the Solvano and Sea Otter Classics. They have some other good stuff going on, too. The archives have some interesting stuff, too.
