I guess complaining will do absolutely nothing, but here is where I can rant and hopefully, gain a pretense of effectiveness. ;)

So I'm riding my bike down an urban residential street, when another cyclist suddenly zips past me. No, he's not passing, but running the stop sign on my right. Had I been riding 1 mph. faster, we would have found out what true love means.

As he passed in front of me at about 15 mph. with about 2 feet to spare, I saw him swerve his bike, as if it were an afterthought. A little late, I think. It was obvious he didn't even slow down at the sign.

I guess these stop signs really do have a purpose...

I'm going to be more alert to UFO's from now on. Dang.

If I understand correctly, this rider was on the cross street and passed right in front of you as you were in the intersection? It sounds like you did not see him until the last second, (why?) or maybe assumed he was going to stop?

Yes, he came from my right. I didn't see him until he passed in front of me, almost hitting me. He didn't even slow down, and looked suprised when he saw me. It was one of those intersections crowded with parked cars. He probably scanned in my direction for moving cars, but didn't notice me on my recumbent.

As I said, I'm going to keep a closer eye out for unidentified flying objects. ;)

Rding defensively is always a good tactic.

That UFO may have been one of the ASA types if they are still around Ft. Huachuca. They were back in the 1960's.

Or it might have been a homemade Chinese fire balloon... :D
