I have a tadpole Sun Bike i am going to try to go from a 53 to a 56 chainring any body think it will work ?

You'll be better off going to a cassette that has an 11 vs a 12, unless you're already running an 11.

It'll work. I suspect you're running a 700c rear?

I went from a 53 to 56T chainring and really glad that I did; but I cheated when I did it. I put on a QRing to give me that 56T effect but maintained a 52T feel. What a way to go; worth every $$ that I put into it. Saved the knees and gave me an easy 1 - 2 mph gain; depending on the terrain.
