does anyone know of any online stores that sell cups that will allow a steer tube made for a one and one-eighth inch fork stem to take a one inch steer stem? my local store says they can order em but theyrs 25 bucks a pair, that seems a bit pricey! any help would be appreciated, fast eddie outty

Why not just buy a stem that fits?

im trying to use stuff i already have. i have some forks with v-brake bosses but they have one inch stems, i dont wanna forks that dont have v-brake mounts so im hoping itll be easier to buy different cones than it is to find forks with v-brake bosses and one inch stems. plus shipping would be cheaper on bearing cups than forks. fast eddie

Wait... what are you talking about, exactly? Are you talking about stems or steerer tubes?

Your an idiot for thinking that you are going to be able to fit a 1 1/8 inch steer tube into a 1 inch hole.

You realize that it's been done before, right? The steerer on older bikes is 1"; that doesn't mean that the headtube is likewise.

Because that makes too much sense...?
