My pop had a pacemaker implanted day before yesterday, and my 11 year old dog was diagnosed with a brain tumor today. How I still have a full head of hair is beyond me.
Not looking for any responses. There is just some odd solace in blurting ones frustrations out to the world.
I really hate to drink (just don't like the taste really), but I think I'm going to be the drunk at the end of the bar one night this weekend.

Sorry for the downer,

Wow...rough stuff man!

I know....my dad just had two angioplastis and two stints put in about a months ago. It kinda happened so quickly that it was nearly over before I would have had time and frustration to post about it.

And as a gonzo dog lover, I understand frustration with your poochie too. I'm really sorry about that...it's going to be hard.

Hang in there.....and have them drinks. Just don't drink so much you vomit....or it takes the "solace" away from it.

Thanks Guys,

Pop is strong like a horse, we had to hide the car keys from him. If he keeps it up, mother wants me to hold him down while she duct tapes his ass in a chair.

Atticus, greatest dog ever.

Its been a tough week for me too. I started the week being super excited because i started a new job, but that night i found out my best friend from elementary school has stomach cancer.

Allen and Pizza man,

Hugs to both of you. I'm sorry about the bad news that you both have to endure. But right now, both of you have to hang on and be strong so that you can have a clear head to think.

Take the time NOW to spend with your loved ones because it will do everyone good if you did so. Remind them how much you love them not because they forget but just because they need to hear it. Don't forget to tell them how much they mean to you or the positive ways they have encouraged you. Make sure they understand the love you have for them. It boosts the soul to hear about being loved. No matter how long its been since you last said it.

I've had to let go of a wonderful dog who was a family member. The solace I had was knowing how much he loved me and how happy he was when he was with me. The faithfulness and loyalty. I felt good knowing that we treated each other with the utmost of respect and unconditional love.

Lots of love to you both, and your loved ones. ((hugs))

My dad had his one year anniversary of an aortic valve replacement 2 days ago. Back to work full-time since January, and looks better than he has in years. Here's hoping all goes well for your dad, also.

My dog died almost 2 years ago. She was only 5, but died of bloat. Worst experience of my life, so I can imagine your pain. I worked for a vet and the last decision is never easy, but the only thing that pulls you through is knowing your best friend isn't suffering anymore.

When my last dog died, now about 6 years ago, it was one of the most painful things I've ever gone through too. I didn't have to "make the hard decision" though...he didn't die of natural causes. But for 5 years I still dreamed about him at least a few times per month. It took me 5 years to be ready for a new dog....and this time I got 2, ya know. ;)

Dogs really are family to use poochie lovers!! ;)

Well that's a kick in the nuts. My pup is 11 or 12. Arthritic but can still bite the **** out of me when we're playing. I know he'll be leaving sooner or later. Maybe a month, maybe 2 years. So I make sure I get as much time in with him when I visit my parents. He can't climb up in the bed anymore so I've taken to sleeping on the floor.

Also, guess it was about a year ago now, found out my dad had a heart attack sometime and never knew it. There was a decent amount of scarring and a lot of palque built up in his arteries. He ended up getting some stints and much of the plaque cleaned off and is doing much better now. Though the bastard still won't exercise. I'm not going to preach to him, but for my mom's sake for the very least, I wish the ******* would take better care of himself. Don't get me wrong, I love the **** out of my dad, but he's still a dick.

Here's to making it through the bad times and not letting them taint the good times.

I hope your dad recovers well.

Maybe this will make you smile for an instant. An older friend of mine who shot competitive archery with me had a pace maker installed. Afterwards he decided he still wanted to go bow hunting for deer. The first time a buck walked up close to his tree stand his pacemaker went off. At least he did not fall out of the tree.

I am sorry to hear about yourYellow lab. I have had two labs and appreciate these dogs very much.

I'm so sorry that you are going through all of this pain at once. You have my sympathies and prayers. I offer no advice or smilers (as a pastor, I've learned that is the worst thing I can do when someone is hurting).

I'm no expert, but I don't think having a pacemaker installed is lifethreatening. I've known people that had them for years and years.
