it is soooo time for a new bottom bracket. i don't think it's supposed to click like a mickey mouse watch.

Sucks, but hey! As long as the crank can turn, the BB is fine! That's the official messenger philosophy, isn't it?

Do you have a loose ball Sugino? I have some cups that only have a small pit not really on the bearing races you can have until you can get a new setup.

nah, campy cartridge. so that wouldn't help much.
i'm fine as long as it keeps turning, but you know, i'll be a happy man when i get a new, quiet bb.

As long as the cranks turn and there is no significant play frome side to side everything should be fine.
i like the noise mine makes on my rain bike! crunchy as hell but it still turns with over 3000 miles and no maintenance!!!:) :) :)

That's sorta like the little old lady who has the classic 60's American car with only 70,000 miles on it and when you go to buy it she says "You know I never had to change the oil on it either!"

some people say you shouldn't ever change the oil. i dunno about that, though.

probably a shimano, unless i feel like putting down/can put down a little extra for another campy, which i'll probably end up getting eventually anyway.

I don't think your crank will like being on a Campy BB, then a Shimano, then a Campy again. The taper might get effed up.

why are people embarrassed about having lubricant? its like
running a slack chain ...once you go slack you'll never go back.

How long did it take you to wear that BB out? You must put some serious miles on your bike. I can't imagine me wearing one out in 20 years.

agreed. i've seen setups like these come into the shop, campy cranks on shimano bb's...you think you're hearing noises now...all that'll happen is you damage the spindle hole in your crankset, then it won't work on the shimano, or the campy bb.
