What happened to Vino there at the end? Can someone that watched it explain (botto)? The audio feed made it sound like he was going to win for sure and he ended up 6th.

It did look like he was going to make it, but he was chased down and passed by Valverde about 150 meters from the line.

it sounded like he had 10 second lead and he ended up finishing 10 secs back. thats nuts.
Valverde can sprint like hell.

Danielson is done...is Janez Brajkovic the new Disco leader (at the ripe old age of 22)....

What's up with Danielson??? Didn't he do really well last year? Is the pressure getting to him this year or is something else going on?
Also, Janez B. looks almost anorexic as Rasmussen. He (Janez) always seems to look as if he thinks very highly of himself with huge ego way to big for his body. yuck.

Brajkovic is 22... cut him some slack, geez. He has already stated plainly that he does not expect to be a force later in the race. :)
As for Danielson, who knows; Bruyneel stated he is healthy and not riding sick. He seems to come up short when it matters most. I still remember the climb to Brass Bald, where he was trying with all his might to drop, then deceive, then drop Landis. Never shook Floyd off.

What exactly happened earlier in the Vuelta where I think Janez attcked and Danielson was further back? Why did Janez do that and not Danieson? Was it an issue of the latter trying to ride conservatively? I didn't think that a support ride was suppose to attack and stay away so did he steal tom's show or what?

Are you referring to to stage 5? In that stage when DiLuca attacked Brajkovic went with and it was obvious that Danielson couldn't follow. Brajkovic didn't do any work, instead just sat on the wheel in front of him. On today's stage Danielson was already out the back and it was clear that he wasn't in contention. Danielson was the forth Disco rider across the line today and has two of his teammates ahead of him for GC, not a good position for the team leader. In two mountain stages so far Danielson has been dropped on both. I would assume Danielson will be working for Brajkovic for the remainder of the race. Whether Brajkovic has the chops to make the podium remains to be seen, but at over four minutes down with lots of mountains left in the race, Danielson is basically out of the running.
I hope that the hype around Tom Danielson will finally come to an end. After seeing his performance in the Giro and so far in the Vuelta it is clear he is not ready for primetime.

It appears that TD doesn't have much gas in the tank at this stage but there's still a long way too go. Valverde does look good though and Vino....hmm he's hungry, after the TDF he's going want some pay back.

What I find strange is how he did pretty well last year - wasn't he in the top 10 at the Vuelta? I recall even Johann saying he was very impressed with that for a first grant tour. But this year TD's performance seems off...the inconsistency as what I was wondering about

Maybe the real problem with Danielson is that he is racing clean?????

Danielson finished 7th last year with a pretty weak team supporting him. That is still attainable but it makes more sense to see what Brajkovic can do.
Looks like Vino got his revenge!
