OK, so I was originally going to do a Vermont/Montreal trip, but do to time limitations, it has been replaced by a closer to home Catskills trip.

I have never ridden in the Catskills, so I'm wondering is 45-60 miles/day down rt 28 a lot? I looked at the topography and it doesn't look so bad, but who knows....

Here's my proposed itinerary:

THURS: poughkeepsie ->
Kenneth L Wilson Park
859 Whittenberg Rd?MT. TREMPER NY 1245 - 40 miles

FRI: Kenneth L Wilson Park ->
Little Pond
549 State Rd, Andes, NY 13731

SAT: Little Pond ->
North South Lake
HAINES FALLS NY 12436 - 51miles

SUN: North South Lake - > Poughkeepsie
50 miles

Rt 28 is generally rolling hills, there are a few moderate hills once you go west from Kingston and the Thruway.. then it should somewhat level off north of the Ashoken. And then eventuallly it'll get hillier by High Mount and by Belleayre with some nice steady climbs before you go into Margaretville... If you're on a mountain bike, you might want to consider the Catskills Scenic Trail which goes to Arkville and by Rt 28...

Be aware that Rt 23A near Palenville is closed so the standard detour is to go Rt 28 to SR214 in Phoenicia or Platte Clove Road which is a narrow windy hilly road that used to be on the Tour de Trump. So lots of traffic on that road, be careful if you ride it.
