So. how did it turn out? Any one photographing plates and faces of people abusing the demonstrators?
I couldn't make it. Had to work until 8 tonight, what a bummer.
Local advocacy email says it seemed like a success, and there will be a story in the Washington County local section of the Oregonian newspaper tomorrow. I'll try to find a link.
"What people on both sides of the fence forget," [Officer] Hyde said, "is that bicyclists have got to watch out for what they think a motorist is going to do or what a motorist is doing.
The McDaniels of Hillsboro died when a car drifted over the fog line on Oregon 47 south of Forest Grove and hit their bicycles on Memorial Day.
Yep, the cyclists should have saw that one coming and gotten off the roadway.
The officer’s statement really bothers me, maybe “should” or at least “it is safer to” but not a “got to.”
If a motorist hits anything else besides a cyclist, the motorist attentiveness will be seriously questioned. Inattentiveness is a national safety issue with motorists yet it does not apply when hitting a cyclists.
So. how did it turn out? Any one photographing plates and faces of people abusing the demonstrators?
According to this report, there wasn't any of that.
