I was trying out my wifes new bike the other day. Theres a huge hill down the road thats gravel and very steep. From a 4mph rolling start at the top I can get up to 35mph without peddeling in about 3 seconds. I got to the bottom where it tuns an easy right and I hit some loose gravel on the side and the back tire slide sideways while the front leans hard. I managed to controll the fishtailing and got it straight by feathering both brakes. Talk about scary.

The way to avoid crashes is to always be in control. Sounds like you just got lucky.

Its a hill in a subdivision on a new part they are grading. Just looking at it, its way beyond the limits of what the county allows for a grade which is 16%. Ild guess its 35% honestly. Comming back up I have to lean forward alot to keep the front tire on the ground, its slow but fun. It burns the legs up pretty good.
