I'm upgrading the components on my bike, a Diamondback Wildwood (2002) and have been thinking about purchacing a set of Mavic Crossride's. My question is will they fit on my bike alright with the 8 spd Shimano cog set up that is on there? I see under the Compatible Specs: HG 8 and 9 speed compatible, but don't know what HG means. Also has anyone ever dealt with Sagecycles.com? Thanks -Mike

"HG" is Shimano's "HyperGlide" trademark. Yes, the wheels will fit your Shimano cassette.

Have a set of crossrides, but these were the originals with rim brakes only. They are light strong and the freehub is rebuildable. Must have been 5 years ago and I did a wet ride. The pawls on thefreehub started missing on gear changes and they went in the garage for 3 years. Decided to get them to my LBS to see if they could rebuild the rear wheel and no problems. It was completely rusted up but new pawls and one new bearing and they have been in use ever since. Cost was not exhorbitant for the parts or the labour and neither wheel was out of true. The spokes had lost a bit of tension but The mechanic was raving about the wheels. He is a roadie but he knows the way I ride and was surprised at how well built they are for such a cheap wheel.

GOOD wheels at an economic price and more important= they work.

Thanks for the info guys, I just ordered a set and hope to have them by next weekends ride. ;)
