Living Car Free - Living Simply.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I think living simply is interconnected with living car free. I've been noticing a higher number of posts recently that are tied to this topic so I thought I would share this website, whose forums section is a wealth of information on cutting costs and living simpler.

If you already know about it, then great. Otherwise, enjoy, I've found it extremely helpful in my search for the simpler life.

I just QUIT "Simple Living" in pure disgust due to the Gestapo moderation tactics that
was all through the forum. The mods there are TO active always looking for some
real or imagined foul to call you on or kick you out. God Help you if you say anything
bad about G.W.Bush or the Bush dynasty / agenda.
While I don't normal comment on forums due to the fact that they are a matter of
personal taste........I rate "Simple Living" forum as firm.....NOT !!!
Try this forum for simple living type info and more. The forum is a good well run
forum that is open, honest & growing. Nice place to spend a few minutes of your
day.

Although I'm slightly to the left of Castro politically, I'll echo Tightwad's sentiments about the Simpleliving.net forum. I still read and post there occasionally, but mainly it's filled with folks looking for strokes, affirmation, and worst of all, < pardon the vomit > ((((((hugs))))))). Beware if you state an opinion unequivically; you'll be branded as "mean." Not that that's a bad thing to be...but to some of those folks, their perception of "meanness" is on a par with puppy-burners and kitten-biters.

Tightwad,
What is better about the site you posted? It seems very similar.

While being similar BWH is NOT moderated except by the owner and one employee
who both work to the guidelines to the letter. NO opinions on right or wrong which
goes a loooooong way to a level playing field.
The topic "boxes" are also much more extensive than SL with real world issues discussed
by knowledgeable folk's. BWH is also not overly dominated by women as SL is so the
female point of view is represented fairly but not overly done. Right now there is a nice
balance. The BWH forum has just come through a major overhaul with several disruptive
members being expelled and new topic boxes and rules boundries added. Three topic forums
that are simply subject to to much personal passion were eliminated....Politics, Religion & News.
For the most part the owner / employee let the folk's politley discuss whatever they wish
to with intervention only as needed. A nice place to visit overall where unlike SL one doesn't
have to watch over one's shoulder for a mod to be offended by a statement they just didn't like.
