The swingin'est of swingbikes has two parallel headtubes set at 90 degrees from the ground. If you make a swing chopper that's way raked out, it will barely want to swing and will ride just like a regular chopper. So rake affects swingyness. But the two hinges should be parallel. Also when welding on your second head tube, don't forget to leave room for the cups and locknut and such (like Chunkolini didn't, ha ha).

I'd say for the quickie you can just chop a head tube, leave some tubing on there, and insert it in a girl's bike. Here's one I made in Ghana called "Wowo" which means 'snake' in ashanti;

The strongest way to do it is to anchor the rear second head tube to the seat post, in two places. I did mine at both the top, and to a plate down on the BB. The rake actually helps the bike stay in line for when you want to go straight, and you use the bars as leverage to make the sway happen. I have also found that if you're using a single seat, it's better to have one that is easy to "butt steer" so to speak. I will have to take a pic tomorrow, I just realized I trashed the one pic of it,,,,BD

I do have a pic of my Uniqo, which is an alternative bike if I ever saw one, lol. I will have to put the front wheel back on the swing tomorrow. I used the tire for another project.,,,,BD


Swing bike, regular bike, and Unicycle all in one pkg. Just plain nuts, lol......It even has a grip shifter to control varying degrees of swing in the rear. Not to mention hand brakes, hehe.

thanks for the help guys, i'm getting a good idea of how i want to do it now. i think i'll go with some rake on the head tubes though, so it's not too crazy. they look like a lot of fun to ride. how hard is it to get the hang of?

I thought about getting one of those, but it looks really small for an adult, even as a goof. How comfortable is it for a full sized person?

that stupid trick cycle is about as cute as they come.

It's not too bad really. You just have to get used to your knees being below you, instead of slightly
forward like a normal bike. I also cannot seem to get used to the pedals moving at all times. I bought it in 2004, and it was on clearance then. It may be hard to find one. They listed for $129, and I got the last one in stock at that particular store, for $31. Sheesh, I forgot to get the front wheel back on my swing bike and shoot a pic. I'll do it soon. It's been sitting out a month or so, so it may be rusty. I never got around to painting the welded portions.
