General Cycling Discussion - Present from my wife.

I talked here into getting a new Woman's specific suspension saddle, and helmet. It came today along with a wireless cyclometer for me! Really neat 8 function computer. My last one (Cateye Enduro 2) got roasted as I rode past a microwave tower, or the real bizarre static field that hover's across the ground out here sometimes. Anyway now I know things when I ride again.

You've proved once again that one good turn deserves another! She sounds like a keeper!:D

I like it, it works well. Actually it is a 9 function, one of them I overlooked I'll probably never use that one anyway. It is a memory. I just like the basics, but this one has a scan function. One that goes through all the basic modes while riding and you do not have to press buttons.
Funny thing about the tower's I never would have guessed but once the readings got way out of hand, like it read 67 miles an hour going down the drive way, I went to the Cateye website and it said that static electricity will FUBAR the computer I said S#*T!
No wires on the system are cool, nothing to get caught up on. Of course with the Enduro that never happened anyway. I always routed everything behind the fork. Anyway the real test will be on the trail to see if it can handle all these rocks and holes, and roots, and dry creek beds etc.. I will let you know.

No you did not miss it I did not post it sorry. It is the Nashbar wireless. They have it on sale right now for $24.99 Good deal on a pretty sharp little system.

That's the brand Howard and I have!! I love it, even though I am on my third. Be careful because they can be knocked off their mount. I lost one on a MTB downhill when I endo'd, hit the handlebar with some part of my body(don't really remember which part) and one on a fast road downhill where we hit rough road at the end and it vibrated off!! Searched to no avail in both instances. :)

I know not to let Cheryl borrow my bike computer...;)

Hunter, very lucky guy to have such a cool wife. I have a Nashbar computer that is 5 years old. That thing has logged over 7500 miles, been through countless creek crossings and rain storms, been in way too many crashes and it still functions like it was new. I think I only paid like $20 for it. The crazy thing is that I haven't needed to replace the battery yet. Of course I haven't ridden next to any radar towers either.

I've lost a couple in a similar fashion. Here's a trick a friend showed me: cut a 1.5 inch section of an old tube so you have a wide rubberband. Slip it over the computer and the mount so the rubberband is encircling the computer. Keeps everything in place.

HEY!!! Good idea. I'll have "my man" do that. By the way....I just bought him 2 new Spandex bib shorts, gloves, chain and 2 new jersey's...and all I got was a new set of Mavic Pro Wheels:cry:
