After a 10 year absence, I finally did another triathlon today. It was the Crystal River Sprint, in CR, Florida.
A warm 1/4 mile swim, 15 mile out and back bike, and a 3 mile out and back run.
I am now a 220 lb 40 year old Clyde, not the same as the 180 lb "kid" I was back then. It sure seemed to hurt more this time!!:D
I had a 8:32 swim, which made me first out of the water for the Clydes. When I got to the bike, I thought I would die! I had a 2:03 T1, while other Clydes did it in about :50 to 1:10.
On the bike, I had a slow start, but finally picked it up, and had a 44:30, which made me 3rd for Clydes. (The computer showed it as 15.5 vice 15)
Another very slow T2 (1:50) led to a very bad run. I actually walked through some of the water stations.
It was great to finally race again, especially on my new bike. I see no reason I cant trim at least 4 minutes off this for the next race. (Probably 2 min alone in the transition area, as I was purposely taking my time and wondering why it hurts so much more at 40 than it did at 23, 27, and 30!:D )
