hey. I'm thinking of getting into BMX, as a lot of my friends do. (and the rivalry w/ skaters sounds fun)

The thing is, I have no idea what to get. I've heard too many vague opinions that contradict themselves.

5' 5"
125 lbs. (could bounce up)
16 years old
$270-$350
flatland mostly

I've searched the site and others, but I havent had much luck. I have heard good things about this DK 6 pack and a Fit.

so yeah. help a dude out.

You are the same height and weight as me and are a year older. You had about the same amount of money to spend as me... I got a Fit Pro and it treated me well (until I broke my leg). But if you want to get into flatland, then check out www.flatlandfuel.com and see what you think is good. Not many of us are experts on flatlanding.

FitRider 921

Flatland is a subcategory of BMX.

Brok3n Arr0w
09-04-06, 09:03 PM
so what kind of stuff do you do in each? examples?

or better yet, could you do both on one bike?

FitRider 921

Flatland is way different than everything else. I'm too lazy to type it all out cuz im still doin summer homework and I dont have the time.

Brok3n Arr0w

well i'm patient. so when you get the time, could you type something up for me? thanks.

This is a crappy flatland video, but you'll get the idea if what it is.

He's not that far off, IMO.

Street is usually riding things that aren't designed specifically to be ridden or skated on, and it usually involves a little trespassing. A lot of street riders run 4 pegs and no brakes, and do a bunch of grind variations on everything, but there's stuff you can ride with almost any setup.

Park is riding in skate/bike parks, most park riders seem to ride no pegs and a rear brake, and a bike as light as possible.

I guess vert is kind of part of park, but with big ramps and stuff like that.

i would probably be doing a combo of street and park. and a few big dirt jumps for kicks (i know of lots around my house).

i was eyeballing a 2hip soul, fit am/pro, and some others on danscomp

Brok3n Arr0w
09-05-06, 03:42 PM
the 6pack doesnt have a gyro. i could get one and put it on, but that would be a ways off. and i dont know how much the fit pro is.

premiumbmx2005
09-05-06, 03:42 PM
you dont need a gyro

Brok3n Arr0w
09-05-06, 03:50 PM
you dont need a gyro

why is that?
anyway, i think i might get the fit pro at $340 (danscomp). i just need a little more money.

FitRider 921

I have the fit pro and I like it... I like the feel of it more than the components.

Brok3n Arr0w
09-05-06, 04:47 PM
fit pro it is. now i just need $45.

.....donations?

Brok3n Arr0w
09-05-06, 11:06 PM
i have $270 cach.
$50 in the bank that the father unit wont let me touch.
going to earn another $50 this saturday.

if only my dad would let me take out some $$$. he says it has to stay in so the account stays active (gay).

i might try that treasure trooper, but it depends on if i can get $20 fast.

I have to say, that was the lamest excuse for a joke. ever.

Brok3n Arr0w
09-13-06, 11:55 PM
this sucks.....a lot.

the reason i ordered from albes is because empire/dans were out of stock. yesterday albes e-mailed saying they are out of stock. i was all like "OMGWTFBBQ!!!11!!!one!" but, it also said the 2007 model should be coming out soon, like a couple weeks. now, do i wait, save up $$$, and get the new 2007 model, or order another bike now? i think i might wait, but not sure.

and get this---my friend, brian, said fit is a good company and the bike was nice (and that its his brand, even though he doesnt own one). now, brian's friend (whom i dont get along with) is saying its a ****ty bike and i can get better with my $$$. now brian says that it is a bad bike, but he's not pressing the point like the other guy (jelousy/peer pressure?).

either way, i think i'll just get the fit pro 2007.

Yes I agree with you on that one. My username was my old screen name and I didn't bother to think of a good username cuz at the time I just went on here for help on getting a new bike and never though I would become an active member. Shoot me. I wanted to get a bike.

I was kidding about the Flow, but you definetly wouldn't regret spending the extra cash. I was originaly going to buy the team, and Kinetic suggested the Flow, and since it was only $80 more at my shop I went for it, and boy am I glad I did!

I HATE GYROS they are useless unless youre crazy good at bmx

Brok3n Arr0w
09-15-06, 07:55 PM
what, like basic barspins? i'm sure i'll be doing those after i get my bike. when weather permits. I HATE RAIN. except for football. anyway, does anyone know where i can go to find out when the fit pro 2007 comes out? i looked at fitbikeco.com, and they just show bikes.

FitRider 921
09-15-06, 08:12 PM
i looked at fitbikeco.com, and they just show bikes.
really? and by the way, you are not going to be throwing barspins for quite some time.

MadMan2k
09-15-06, 09:08 PM
Manual barspins aren't terribly hard, but hop/flyout barspins are harder. Unless you rode before and could do them, in which case you probably could do them right after you get your bike.

Brok3n Arr0w
09-15-06, 11:41 PM
well, fitbikeco.com had nothing about up-coming bikes. a few sites say "2006 is out of stock, but 2007 will be here soon!" thats pretty lame. when the hell is 'soon' anyway?

FitRider 921
09-16-06, 12:59 PM
'Soon' is whenever the hell they feel like putting out new bikes.
