Yep, I am from Louisville. I ride down your way about every other week when I driving through. Will go to the bike shop right before you go to the north visitor center and either ride from the shop out into the country on the marked routes or will go down the Trace.

Thanks for your reply. I was beginning to think everyone on the fourm was from CA. Wood and Wave is the shop. Been there numerous times. Enjoy the LBL area!

Heya, I'm in Lexington. Are the hills any less troublesome in Paducah than here?

Hills are very less troublesome in Paducah than in your area.

Hey, I just joined this site for the first time. I'm a rider in Louisville. Great rides and trails around here. Good hills in the parks to build your strength and some nice 40 - 50 mile scenic routes. Anyone wanta ride?

Where exactly are the best rides in the Louisville area? I'm really only familiar with the river trail, which couldn't be more than ten miles. I'd love to find some longer rides!

Come and join on a club ride. Check out the louisvillebicycleclub.org website for the schedules. Unfortunately, cold weather is approaching and the loss of Daylight savings time. The club by the way will quickly familiarize you with rides from different locations and of course, you can go to most of the parks and find "Dan Henrys" on the road and if you feel adventurous, you can always follow one and just see where you end up. I use that trick when riding away from home. I will find the marks on the road, time the distance I want to ride and if I feel like I am getting too far out, I simply will turn around.

I'm a student at Murray State and am thinking about buying an intro level road bike. Are you a member of crcc, slowspinner? Also, which shops around west KY tend to have the best prices on bikes?

I was a student at MSU when I bought my first true road bike. Yes I am a member of the CRCC. There are three bike shops in local area Bike World in Paducah, Wood-n-Wave at Grand Rivers near the north entrance to LBL amd Bikes and Moore in Hopkinsville. Now would be a good time to bike shop as most shops have clearences on last years bikes and during the winter prices are ususally lower. I was at Bike World recently and they had some bikes at some very good special prices. I am sure the is a bike just waiting for you.

Hi guys. Just Joined. Recent transplant from Los Angeles to Louisville. Been on hiatus for awhile. Working back into it, now that I'm not commuting 4 hours a day.
Looking forward to getting back into shape and riding this winter.

tt1106...how ths riding in the winter treating you??? ;) It's so freaking cold here! I hear Cherokee Park is a nice place and that there are some trails by the river...I am just getting ready to move to Louisville myself and can't wait to start riding in the spring. I don't have a bike now, but am planning to get one soon...It's going to be warm this week...I was thinking of renting a bike maybe from the Highland Bicycle shop on Thrusday 2/22 and exploring Cherokee a bit...Have you triend any trails in the area yet???

I will be in Kentucky for two days at the end of April, visiting my sister near Bowling Green. I've never been there before. If you were to recommend two rides (one saturday, one sunday) anywhere in the state, a ride that you would say "You've GOT to ride HERE!" ... where would it be??? (let's say anything under 100 miles)
