Mountain Biking - TRANSITION, I'm in LOVE

ok for some reason I NEVER realized there was such a bike as the Transition Preston, I always wanted a Transition DirtBag, but had no need for that much travel, and now I realized there is such a bike that fits my needs perfectly, in the Transition Preston, so now I have changed my sights from the Santa Cruz Nomad to the Transition Preston, so as my knee will be healing, I'M going to get the parts I want and buy the frame an dby the time my knee gets back in the swing of things, I"LL be cruising in style

And its a reasonable price
And the owers really back their product
And the warranty is just awesome

I know, with the reivews it recieves and everything else about it, the frame is a HELL of a deal for under $1000

I was thinking about buying the full bike if I ever could get the money. But now I am thinking Rocky Switch becuase I can get them for way cheaper.

How does it pedal compared to the supposedly outstanding VPP suspension from Santa Cruz and Intense?

never ridden one, so I don't know. I'm not expecting an XC rig, but it's supposed to be able to climb fairly well, and supposed to be killer back down. thinking either the Romic or the Manitou Swinger 4-way coil. either going to have a fox vanilla 36 or a PIKE

so I came to a realization, it would end up cheaper if i bought the complete bike and put the parts i want from my current bike on the new one and switched the others abck over to my bruiser, then for the same money I'd have two bikes.

Go with the dhx. romic is blowing and I believe close to going out of business and swingers suck. They should let you upgrade to the dhx...buttery smooth hmmmmm

I was looking at a mates second hand switch but decided not to buy it and to stick with my Kona dawg. Obviously completely different bikes but I never expected a freeride rig to climb that badly.

They are built like tanks compared to my bike though. Can't see how I would ever break one if I had one but just never try to ride one up any long climbs.

I know, they are great bikes. I can get them for around $2500 for a S2, so I might do that even I get that kinda of money. But until then, its the old Kona Stuff. (2001)

my buddy is looking at a Transition Vagrant and I the Preston so we're trying to figure out a time to visit a Transition dealer, he's away at school and I'm home and going to school, we live in Missouri, the closest dealer is either going to be Michigan or Colorado, so it's gonna come down to finding some time to escape. AND straight from the horses mouth, I never said I didn't plan on test riding it, that would be lame. I was jusy hyped about the takes on the bike and the outstanding reviews its gotten. THANKS

Mx, why are you dropping names? Are you trying to get the posse going on here? That is putting a tad bit of pressure to get these guys involved when they don't need to be. You know what you know, John knows what he knows. Both of you don't know what the other knows so just be happy and confident with what you know and leave others out of it. To me, both of you know a lot. But then ANYONE here knows more than me. So there! :p

Indeed they may have and you (from what I can tell!) have come quite a long way from an accumulation of different people's knowledge and experiences. And that is what this forum is all about. We all learn from each other and be proud of what you possess. Just be open minded that there is soooo much more to learn and add to your gains. Nobody here needs to top each other. Because no matter what you do, or what you know, there will always be someone who knows more. We should all just learn from them. :)

i meant nothing bad by it. i am just saying i would never make a road trip or get an airplane ticket somewhere to test a bike. i guess it just isn't that important to me. i can see some people do it to have a custom frame or something...but i would never go through that kind of trouble for a regualr bike...even if i had the money. think about how much extra you would have to spend on the bike if you didn't spend a lot to go "test" ride one. unless you found something local...but i doubt it :)

yeah, i don;'t have a problem test not test ridign one, i kind of want to, but then again no, but ym buddy is different
