Northeast - Where are the MD people's

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Problem with the way these regoinal forums are split up is that the DC area is cut into two groups. Don't know whether to post in NE or SE or both, so most of the time it's neither.

I got the bike for crosstraining.
I am out pretty much every weekend, either on inlines or the bike.
I certainly see enough other riders on the road, but I haven't had a good chance to meet any.

So even though I'm on the nicer side of the river ;) I'll jump in and ask if anyone is riding the Indian Head Century on Sunday? I'm doing the metric with a few friends.

The Baltimore Bike Club is holding their Civil War Century on Saturday morning at 7am starting at Thurmont--thinking about doing that one. It has about 7,400 feet of climbing across 105 miles.

Though 'Spokes' is not a forum, there is a way to comment textually or via a poll on the articles or stories shown on the site or to contribute a story. Barry always seems to have his finger on the pulse of B'more cycling advocacy.

I do sometimes with my wife but really not crazy about the pedestrian traffic etc...
My usual route is a 28 mile run up and down route 8. Where do you ride in Grasonville?
I will probably ride the Tour du Port; I've been wanting to do it for a few years now, and I just never seem to make it.

The Tour Du Port is fun. Usually try to leave about 1/2 hour after official start time to reduce "bike" traffic. We take our son on a trail-a-bike. May I also suugest the women on here consider She Got Bike on October 1. Nice experience last year despite the rain!

TdP's a good ride. I've been to the last 5. Can't break my streak now. ;)
Last year's TdP I rode the loop twice around. Turns the short course into a decent size ride. If anyone else want to try a double TdP, I'll be at the start at 7am. :p

I live in Severn, Maryland - Central Anne Arundel county. I just moved here from rockville. I actually grew up here so know the roads pretty well. I'd like to learn more about the TourDuPort. Any links?
Also - for the Kent Island crowd. I lived there for a while, around the ten mile point on RT. 8 - Keen Farm Lane. That was 15 or 16 years ago. There are a bunch on new homes on the old farm now.
I hope to hook up with some of the Marylanders here someday.
I'm going out on the B&A Trail tomorow for a flat long ride.

Angelo,
I enjoyed your Blog and routes that you have cycled. Hopefully one day I will do the same. today I went out and rode an hour on some rolling hills and put in about 14 miles. I used to be able to ride a century and even did a MS150 ride five years ago. I hope to increase my mileage to do the kind of riding you are now.
Thank for the motivation

You may want to consider subscribing to the Yahoo group, BBC Talk, run by the Baltimore Bike Club. Sometimes club members sell bikes through that medium.
BBC Talk can be found here:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bbctalk/
Also, if you are interested, the BBC has their own web site here:

Hi,
I'm sure we'll cross paths eventually. I ride an ANT bicycle (http://bikeforums.net/showthread.php?p=2763108&#post2763108). Will also try to make it to tour du port!

Well I’m hard to miss with my “truck bike” as some call it (Xtracycle) with Aero Bars. I really could not make up what kind of bike I wanted or what kind of riding I like to do so I ended up with this Frankenbike of sorts so I can do it all and have lots of excuses to go out and ride (i.e. similar to excuses why people drive a car sometimes.)
