I just like the fact that they have the word Trek in them! Absolutely no constructive input to offer though, sorry.

I got a nice goold old fashioned wood one that I bought at a renniassance fair some years back. Got to use it and it worked well.

But I'm sure one that was designed for the use would work better. I think you want strength in it...so I'd probably go with the Al or Ti. Do they make a steel one?

timely topic... i just got back from maine after dropping my friend off. he's starting on the appalachian trail at baxter state park and through hiking to georgia. he brought his carbon fiber trekking poles ;)

Hardwood sticks have always worked for me, but if you need something cool expensive and all around kick ass, this is what you're looking for,

Heh, we was just hiking up Killington in Vermont and saw a few northbounders. Thru hikers seem to always have trekking poles... they can't all be wrong!
