Last year we held the inaugural event, see this thread (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=137467&highlight=Montebello+10K) and this one (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=144853) for additional information.
If you're too lazy to click, the executive summary is: up and down Montebello Road (http://graphics.stanford.edu/~lucasp/grade/montebello.html), 5 times. The "10K" is not kilometers, rather, kilo-feet, e.g. 10,000' of climbing...in just over 50 miles.
UPDATE!!! Date is set, October 22. We are thinking 8? 9? am start time. Last year we started at 7 and it was pretty chilly, and it was even earlier in October. We should still have plenty of daylight to crank this out. It's only 50 miles, right?! :D
P.S. Yeah, we know...it's basically just hill repeats. But it's challenging and fun anyway :)
