Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm 44 years of age. I am coming off my fast next week (40 days no food, only water and some juice every other day or so), and I want to keep the momentum up for my commitment to continually challenge myself. I ran across a web page about a Triathlon and I thought I always said I wanted to do one and what better timimg. That's my GOD for you! I'm in good shape (no crippling past injuries) and always been active, lately dirt biking on trials (not trails) motorbikes and riding mountain bikes at Lake Grapevine (great trails) which is only about 10 minutes from where I live. I play non competitive soccer. The fast was more of a spiritual thing to me. Anyways, I am in the market for a competitive bike but not cutting edge just yet (whoo, those prices for a bike and no motor included???). Hoping to find a good used bike for a grand or less. I'd take a great bike with worn components just to get a decent frame, fork and handlebars. I'm handy with tools. I'm set to join the Dallas Athletes Athletic Club in Coppell as soon as my fast ends and I get some fuel back in me.
There's a Tri going on October 15th and I'd like to try and see if I can be ready for it. Just to complete it not win obviously...:D Six weeks and really only 5 after my fast ends. We'll see! Open to any & all free advice and leads for a bike! And maybe some great friendships too!

Frank A. Brauer
