Mountain - Plains - bike shops in Salt Lake City/Murray?

anyone know of some racer oriented bike shops in the SLC or Murray Utah area?
I had my chain snap today and I need to replace some parts ASAP...

Contender's one of the more racer-type shops. They're at 875 East 900 South. Orbea, BMC, Litespeed, that sort of thing. Fairly high-end.

I usually go to Fishers, at 2175 South 900 East. They've been around for a while and are good guys.

Most shops should be able to help you with chain parts, depending on who you're closest to. PM me if you need more info. Good luck.

If by chance you are up in the Kaysville area, Bikers Edge has always done good with me. Otherwise, as said above, Contender's will likely have what you need.

I really love Canyon Bicycles, the one on Wasatch and 3300 South, the other Canyon Bicycles seem a pretty low-end, but the 33rd and wasatch one is pro.

I'm gonna have to say Contender as well. I don't know of any good shops around Murray. But there is always google maps.

I generally go to Bicycle Center on 2100 South 700 East.

Thats where I bought my MTNbike. A good shop, but definately more MTNbike oriented. I went back there looking for a road bike and they had two Road bikes on the floor.

+1 on Contender =). If you want pro, with a huge selection, then that's definitely where to go. I've been hanging around in that shop lately and the people are nice. Bicycle Center (where I purchased my bike from) and Fishers by far have the nicest people in the whole valley, but they're not exactly high end shops. As far as Canyon Bicycles goes... I would never buy anything from them. I visit once or twice a year thinking that I might get some decent service, but ... the snotty guys are never helpful. Unless you manage to talk to the owner of the shop (who is a great guy), forget about shopping there otherwise.

So yeah.. there's my small rant and two cents which cover only the shops mentioned already =)

Edit: nvm on the Canyon Bicycle bashing. The Draper store is absolutely great... just be wary of the Olympus Cove store.

I got the same vibe at the olympus cove place. The guys at Revolution on 7th east at about 8700 south are pretty cool and it's close to Murry. It's not a big shop, and might not be racer oriented but the service is great.

dude, seriously; seriously, dude... living within your means is important, this i understand. but in the event that you folks from slc are feeling like a ride, well then ride down to provo and visit Racer's Cycle Service. the shop is small, but... its not the size that matters, its how you use it right? regardless of my inadequate personification Racer is the man, man. his desire for bicycles supersedes the breadth of any bicycle super-super store. he can provide you with the product that makes you happy, for a reasonable price. in the event that he does not have it, he will tell you where to go... whether it be virtual or local. bottom line it is worth the trip.

I am like excited that there is so many form Utah here, I have only been to half of the bike shops listed, and I do visit a couple of the ones mentioned now and again, I do have my favorite(s) and the one I go to the most is BOUNTIFUL CYCLE.
I get more for my $. If I am spending over $40 its worth my gas to drive to Bountiful.

Had both my TT and Road fit there, he is a wizard.

Revolution down south and Biker's Edge up north have both treated me right, great shops.

Dang there is a lot of good shops in SLC, I am gone from UT now but miss the wide open roads around PC and Kamas and Heber.

While it was around 30 degrees down here in the valley with this inversion, it was a deent 40 degrees up around Park City and Heber so I took the bike up there for a ride last week. Man, 1 day of riding outside, even in 40 degree weather, sure beats 2 months of riding on the trainer in the basement.

Is anyone getting out to ride in this gunk? I went out for a quick 15 miles yesterday in 37°. Conventional wisdom is to stay inside when the air's this bad, and everyone else seemed to be heeding that advice, but it was nice to get out and stretch the legs for a bit.

I went for a jog yesterday despite my wifes warning and now have a wheezing when I breathe normally. I'll stick to the trainer inside until this crap clears up.

That sucks--here's hoping the wheeze clears up quickly. I was down in St. George a couple of weeks ago and took the bike. It was nice to get out in 50° and relatively clean air. It's been kind of a grim 2007 for cycling around S.L.

Not particularly race oriented, but all around good selection and good pricing. As knowledgeable as anybody else I've met around here. Taylor's Bike Shop on 5400 South just west of 3200 West.
Second the info on Canyon Bicycles. The owner, Mike, is a great guy and very knowledgeable. They sell premium bikes and parts at premium prices.

Found a new one, actually been there for a long time, I just found it, SPIN CYCLE, up in Holliday, Prices fair and they had what I wanted.
