My buddy Justin's (TNCLR's) De Rosa has been stolen from his storage space in SF. Thief is to be destroyed!!!!!! PLEASE keep an eye out and help recover. This bike does NOT belong in the hands of a thief, especially if you know Justin!
here is the bike:
http://velospace.org/node/150
they also stole two of his bass guitars which i do not have a description for yet.

Thanks guys. I REALLY, REALLY appreciate all the help. I am, in a word, devastated.

Condolences, Justin. My friend Maribel, who I believe knows you, told me about this before I saw the BF posting. Word is spreading quickly and broadly enough, I hope, to serve that doosh his just desserts. We'll keep eyes out in PDX.

yeah that's like a thousand dollar pbass too (the '78), and that bike is so sexy.
it's not like the thief can actually ride the bike without someone recognizing it, keep an eye out on ebay for both items.
Thanks mrwhite, gnarboots, and everyone else.
Yes, the bass theft really stings. The black 78 p-bass was the REPLACEMENT I picked up when my band Film School had all our **** stolen in Philly earlier this year. And the other one was a childhood friends I was borrowing.
Oh, and for anyone in the SF area that wants to help out. I made a flyer (http://www.divinia.com/people/jlabo/derosa_flyer.pdf) to be posted in bike shops, cafes, whatever. Any help in spreading the word is appreciated beyond belief. Thank you!

thats a shame. sorry to hear.
That thief better break it into pieces; that thing is damn recognizable (and ******* gorgeous! btw I hope he doesn't...), and with the word spreading like wildfire and all...

Damn, that's a nice frame...
Good thing is, you got TiP on your side, so the thief is in more trouble than you are;) I'd give the bike back double quick before she sets off for SF...

Do you really think a rider stole it? Not likely id say. Itll be in some east bay pawn shop before the weekend or sold on the street for nill.
ohmygod. i have seen that bike on velospace so many times and said how amazing it is. i cant believe somebody would actually touch it.

That's so, so, so fu(king wrong. Jacking a De Rosa is just fu(king evil. I'll keep my eyes open and show the pics to all the cats I ride with so they can keep a look out as well. If you all catch the POS that took it, post his address. I'm sure all of the peeps in the bay area would love to fu(k with him/her for YEARS to come.
I work with troubled youth in SF. I just printed pics of your bike to show to the kids I service. My kids can find ANYTHING. I'll post some up in the Sunset and the park as well.
Damn i was just checking that bike out the other day on velospace too. Sorry to hear it got stolen hopefully it'll return.

Man, I keep checking back to find the happy ending. Best of luck. Oh yeah, you guys do rock.
No happy ending yet. Everytime my phone rings I'm hoping it's a friend in SF with good news. Thank you everyone for helping to spread the word and offering assistance. I really appreciate it. I'm gonna try and go back to SF this weekend to get a police report and remove my stuff from the ****ty storage space. If the bike is found, it will NEVER be left alone again. I don't need this kind of stress. Haha.
Fingers crossed for some good news.

ugh it must be so stressful to deal with this especially because you're not here and you must feel pretty helpless.
let me know if there's anything i can do besides keeping an eye out. has anyone gone around bike shops with a pic of your bike? i'm sure bike shops will be super skeptical if someone brings in such a nice frame for the purpose of sale, but it won't hurt.

Yes, I feel totally helpless. But, lots of folks have offered to help and that makes me feel somewhat hopeful. Some dude got his Cinelli back here after someone spotted him on the street with it. Maybe something similar will happen with my baby.
If anybody in the Bay Area wants to help hand out flyers. There is a JPG of it here. (http://www.divinia.com/people/jlabo/derosa_flyer.jpg) PDF of the same thing here. (http://www.divinia.com/people/jlabo/derosa_flyer.pdf) I thank you.

- just thought i'd let you know.. the .pdf of your flyer comes up with no picture (blank area) under Preview under Mac OS X 10.3... (one has to use Adobe reader in order to view a pic of the bike)...
- hope you get your ride back... i'd be *very* unhappy and would have my attorney contact the storage company...
- btw, you *were* insured, weren't you?

Ah, I'm on 10.4 and made the compatibility of Acrobat 6.0. Maybe the old version of Preview doesn't support that? At least it works in Acrobat I guess.
I DID have a insurance. But only for $2000. Considering the bike, 2 bass guitars, a Macintosh desktop and Apple LCD display, and a set of wheels...not really gonna close to compensation. It is absolutely better than a kick in the nuts though. I'm glad I have at least that. I'd rather have my bike back though...

if you've got home owners, even though they weren't in your home, they should cover them. if you can claim you technically live with your parents, and just had your stuff out there for school or vacation or something, you can possibly claim it on theirs.

ever think about putting a "wanted - de rosa bicycles (mention youre a collector..)" ad on the local seedier craigslist? ours is the recycler, i forget what SFs is.. thrifty nickel?.. its a total long shot but you never know how greedy someone might get if they see the ad..
sorry about the bike tnclr.. as ive told you before.. its my favorite of all the bikes on here

Damn, that sucks. I hope this ends like the last case Terror in Pink was involved in but if these guys broke into a storage locker, they may be more professional-types. Keep swinging that lock, TiP

Ha... thats like telling rain to stay wet
speakin of our favorite lock swinger.. you gotta love this lyric from too shorts blow the whistle...
"Do you really wanna be like me?
Spit game like Snoop and TIP"
wow that blows - pls let us know if you get it back.
a good reminder to all to get renter's insurance if you don't own your home. Esp if you have lots of goodies some pus brain could take. It's not that expensive and you'll sleep a little better.
good luck with insurance and recovering your stuff.
in the unlikely event that i see it in philly or dc, i will be sure to start a huge confrontation, even though im kinda tiny.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I will keep an eye out for it when Im out and about in the city. I place my money on the thief being a crack or meth head. Not trying to be funny but I thought those places advertise as being secure storage. Makes me think that it was probably an inside job, minimum wage worker with nothing to lose. I hope for a safe return of your items.

I'm heading back to SF tomorrow. File a police report, re-locate my **** to another storage facility, and hit up all the fleas and projects. I think we might make a ride out of it. If anybody in the Bay Area is interested in meeting up. Feel free to give me a call. Saturday AM-ish.
Much love to all of you.

he'll get his justice, maybe a couple of good hits to the ribs with a nice kryptonite chain
this is an awesome network - if this guy tries to unload it on a LBS there is a good chance it will be spotted.
Good Luck!
Best case scenario is that they start riding it or try to sell it somebody in the "community". Worst case scenario, they paint it primer grey, beat the **** out of it, throw it in a dumpster somewhere. I handed out about 50 flyers today around SF. We'll see if that turns up anything.
