Haha, no i dont do any pedal stuff, hell, i dont even ride pegs!
And im pretty smooth, the worst beating those pedals will see is maybe a drop into a hole at the trails.

Pretty Sweet besides for the biggest bars ever.

Slams are most definitely not the biggest bars ever. The OG Solid Turnbars had the same width and backsweep, but were an inch taller.

Lock on's are a waste of money. If you install your grips properly you shouldnt have a throttle problem.

Don't waste your time. Trying to explain that simple fact to him is the equivalent of trying to tell a Catholic priest that molesting boys isn't God's will.

The pics appear as though the lock-on's have a larger diameter. I have large hands. Larger O.D. is comfortable.

yes, really. you cant go by pictures, especially since the lock ons have ribs making them look like they have a larger diameter.

Lock ons are more trouble than they are worth, IMO. I have a pair on my mountain biike, but dried dirt got into the tiny allen screw that clamps them, and when I tried to loosen it, the dirt made the wrench slip and stripped the hell out of the bolt. With regular grips, if dirt gets on the end, even if it gets inside the grip, you can just pop off the bar ends, take off the grip with WD 40, clean the bar and inside of the grip and put them back on. Not that much trouble, and you sure don't need to mess with removing any stripped screws or buying any new stuff.

Not to mention that Longnecks are longer than Martinez' grips (which are likened to being as thick as Coke cans), so if you compress a picture so that it appears to be the same length as a Martinez grip, it's obviously going to appear to be just as thick, if not thicker.

I have Odi Rogue lock-ons that use the same collars. So I know that the Longneck lock-on diameter is as large as what I have now. But I just can't find a dealer that sells them, nor will Odi answer any e-mails...

Give Animal Edwins a try if you do decide to switch to regular grips. If you don't like them, it's only like 10 bucks and you have a spare set. They aren't really wide, but they feel a lot better than most wide grips I've tried.
I like mine, but although the design is really comfortable, pieces do get torn off from time to time and they get thinner and thinner.

Edwin's are nice.. but completely suck when you sweat.
MadMan2k
09-09-06, 12:28 AM
For me, the grip is fine with sweaty hands, even though it's less comfortable. Some grips your hands just slip all over and you eat ****, but with those it just makes your hands a little agitated from the friction, and the water and stuff.

I like my current Odi Rogue lock-ons except: they are sticky, & they leave black junk on my hands after long rides.
They are super soft, and just the right diameter for me.
My 2nd bike has Hoffman Mushrooms and I like them alot, but the diameter is too small for long rides.
just hold on to your bike tighter. grips are hardly this big of a deal to waste half a thread on.

My hands' length is too long, thus my fingers dig into my palm with small O.D. grips.
