Classic & Vintage - Bicycle Museum?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Is there something like this, either in a building somewhere or a virtual on-line version where I can see old bicycles (early 20th century and older)? If so, where?

Outside of Buffalo, NY, and on-line: http://www.pedalinghistory.com.
Oops, too late. But I can vouch for this being an interesting place, having visited it several years ago.

Is anyone else saddened by the fact that some of these bikes aren't being ridden?

I'm not.
Are you saddened that the Wright Flyer and Lindy's "Spirit of St. Louis" aren't being flown, but instead are in the Smithsonian so millions of people can appreciate them?
Preservation in a museum means they'll be around a long time for future generations to admire instead of becoming pieces of twisted metal in a junk yard.
I have no problem with museum worthy bike being nonriders,
and I'm not talking NOS or NIB collectors bikes.
for example how many wright brothers bikes still exist?
maybe a handful? they belong in a museum.
If a bike has historical provenance, or serious
race provenance (i.e. Eddy's hour bike as opposed to
danny domestique's training ride) it deserves to be
preserved so we all have the oppertunity to enjoy
them.

In Sparta, Wisconsin: dekeslayton.com. The website is pretty horrid, though.
Much better is this bike shop in Austin, MN: http://www.rydjor.com/
