I get them, especially during competition. I usually have one constantly during consistent running training on my second toe, up against my big toe. But this time after this weekend's race, I got a big one on my third toe up against my second toe, and this one was filled with blood.
I ran track in grade school and highschool, in 6 years of track and field I never got blisters.
Shoes: Nike Shox (Ya, not the best I know, but that's the only ones I've got.)
some solutions, temporary, but maybe helpful: baby powder, vasoline, new socks!, body glide. Blisters are caused by moisture in between skin. Dry feet don't blister (usually). If anything new shoes that breathe better, but I'm thinking you don't want to do that. Asics 2XXX model breathe really well for me.
Has this been happening only since running in the Nike Shox?
If so -
Are the shoes worn in?
Are these shoes a narrow fit and your feet wide?
As rplong suggests, using something like bodyglide between your toes should help manage the blisters during racing. During training using vasaline or bodyglide and tape.
I used to get the same two blisters when I caddied, wet feet and lots of motion are a recipe for blisters. It's not a perfect solution, but I was able to keep movin by wrapping the tips of the index and middle toes (or whatever they're called for feet) in medical tape while they're completely dry. Not sure how well it would work for running though.

Vaseline. I have found that powder sometimes exacerbates the issue. Do a scientific study....powder on one foot, vaseline on the other. Of course to be truly scientific you would need a third foot with nothing as your negative control...but oh well.

I used to get these on runs of 10k and over; now I use BodyGlide between the toes and no problems. Shoes and socks were fine, I just have nasty overlapping talons...
Try these socks they should help. http://www.injinji.com/index2.htm

Have you used them personally? What's the scoop? I like the toe socks. I wasn't aware of this company, thanks for the info.
They are big with the ultra runners. For me personally body glide does the trick.

I've used them. They're pretty nice for running - especially on trails, since you can "grip" with your toes. However, I wouldn't recommend them for tris. They'll simply take too long to put on in transition.
I've used silicone toe caps with great success for preventing blisters between my toes. Also, keeping you nails trimmed very tight helps alot.

I used to get really bad blisters and found two things that solved it for me.
1.) Good pair of dual layer running socks
2.) Blister areas callused up.
I dunno which came first or if it was a combination of both, but I don't have problems anymore. Make sure you have shoes fitted at a good running store.
