Hi there,
I got a question concerning deals about a sid race. My freind, who accidently cut his sid race steerer tube too short, asked if i wanted to buy it. Now he will sell it to me at a bargain 140 bucks, its a 2002 model, with lockout and everything. It currently fits my bike, (trek 4300, i plan to upgrade later) which is a 16.5. This frame size currently fits me witht eh seatpost up a bit (not the whole way). I am about 5'7" right now, and the doctor says I will get to about 5'10" or 5 '11". my question is, is it worth buying the fork? I plan to ride XC and aggressive trail riding only and maybe race during the summer. The other question I had was if there was anyway in whcih to raise the cockpit. Currently no spacers can fit, otherwise the fork wouldnt fit. Is it weird to have a riser bar for XC riding, or would a high rise stem be more suitable?
Any input on this would be appreciated. Thanks
byron

No it is not weird to have a riser bar for XC riding. The choice between the two mentioned either stem or bar is up to you. Personally I would go with the bar but some like a high rise stem. If you plan to race the riser bar is more practical.
Also $140 for the Sid Race is a good deal shame the steer is cut way short.

140 for a Sid is a killer deal, I'd take it.
