Does everyone wear their regular padded gloves under the winter gloves, or just do without padding?

I was shopping around for some, and they all have tacky patches to grip with, but no padding to speak of... just wondered whether I should shoot for fit with the fingerless gloves underneath.

Also, any recommendations for winter gloves for riding into the forties and high thirties?

I stopped using padded gloves now that I have drop bars and good tape. They would always cut off my circulation when I ride on the hoods.

I find that Smartwool glove liners are nice for cool (not cold) alone or under the cycling gloves.
