Ever since I got a high racer this spring, I have had to urinate twice as often. It seems that every time the bladder is half full the body says “time to purge”. It's only while riding that bike though. Is frequent peeing a penalty for riding a high racer or is it just that I am a year older? Has anybody else experienced this?

Maybe riding makes you so happy you could pee?

I'm assuming that everything works normally off the bike... Maybe you could do a reverse CamelBak sort of thing...

Either that or go see a Urologist. You could have a stone that moves out of the way when you ride or a cyst that's in the way. Probably not, but at your age, you don't want to take any chances! :)

Ditto.

If this doesn't happen at any other time then it ain't the bike it's you. The postion you're in
on the bike says that something is very wrong. Heed the warning.........

You don't have a going problem you have a growing problem. Just quoting a stupid TV commercial about a the ever growing prostate. Anyway, I have a friend that rides a high racer and he wears me out stopping to pee all the time. I would get it checked out. Can't be too careful.

I noticed this when I first converted from my upright to a high racer but interestingly enough it went away after 6 months or so of heavy riding. Perhaps the body has to do some adjusting to the new position?

Is it true that Lance just lets go while racing? EWWWW! But he can afford to pay someone to clean the p off his bikes!

I suppose it's possible that (if you have one) an aerobelly would press against your bladder when you're reclined. Also, I've noticed a tendancy to need more pee breaks when the weather is cold. OTOH, I've done centuries with no stops, something I never could have managed on an upright.

I had & still have the same issue, though it seems twice as often, it isn't. What is happening is on a wedgie your abdomine was compressed against the muscles & nerves that control your bladder & the bladder itself. Even though the bladder was full you did not feel the urge to go because of this. But I bet when you stopped & got off the bike the urge hit you all of a sudden.

On a recumbent you're reclined back, no way for your abdomine to compress against your bladder. When I rode a wedgie & my bladder was full I never really felt it until I got off the bike & it was a sudden & acute urge. When I got the recumbent that changed. So much so I thought I had a problem & went to my doctor about it. There is no problem, just the position of my body on the bike affecting the feeling of how often I had to go.

Do yourself a favor and see the Dr. Get yourself checked for sugar. One of the signs of being a diabetic
is to start urinating often. I did read your post and I understand it only happens at certain times ...but just be safe and have
it checked. I had a friend years ago tell me he started going quite often and low and behold he found
out he had diabetes...sure enough about four months ago I notice myself getting up a couple times
at night to hit the potty and get myself checked and yep...u guessed it....I am also diabetic.
As far as the prostrate....take zinc.....not a lot....about 50 mg. It takes the swelling out of the prostate
gland and lets you empty all of the bladder....you'll notice a big difference in "flow" after about
two weeks of using zinc.

They normally pull over for a nature break. Unwritten rule that nobody takes advantage of the situation. Not unusual for a group to pull over together. If you are in a breakaway, though, you can't stop for anything.
