Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I believe she deserves the death penalty 100% anyone have any opinions? NO EXCUSES!
But what about "Post Partum Depression"???? How could you kill 5 children and even attempt to claim that as a defense???? I agree she should receive the death penalty.
Post Partum Depression, come on. That is just one more defence lawers terms to get people off their sentencing. Depression is one thing, but to kill someone is another. So what anyways if you do the crime you should do the time. It doesn't matter what is wrong with you. If you do it once you will do it again. I feel very strongly about how bad the american system is. People get off from their crimes with slaps on the wrist just because some doctor made up a " so called name " for what they are suffering from. JES!
Just take one good look at the pictures of the children and see if this woman sickens you as much as she does me.

This is a major tragedy.
My main thought is, what would the husband and children want?

Kids are God sent, they are only being lent to us by "our" friend!!!
I agree she should get the death penalty. Depression is no excuse. And depressed people do damage to themselves, not other people. I have a lot of siblings, more than 5. I can't imagine someone killing 5! kids, she must have been extremely mad at the kids to put up with all the fighting and screaming and hold those kids under the water. I had nightmares for days after I saw the news about her. What did she do with the kids when she was done? Put them in a pile? did she wrap them up? What? She hasn't expressed the least bit of remorse as far as I know.
I also think they need to investigate the dad, I have read some things about him that make him sound very strange.
I heard last night that she may be pregnant. Can you imagine.. This is terrible.

I believe that in clear cut cases like this the death penalty is the way to go. No appeals no dragged out trial.
Where was these young kids appeals to live? Where was their trial to keep living?
In this country we have to expect major delay. Just take a look at Timothy McVeigh or O.J. Simpson. This one will more than likely take its toll on tax payers money as well..

Is this really the place to have a disscusion about someone`s deserve to live or die?
NOBODY, let me repeat that, N-O-B-O-D-Y, has the right to decide whether or not someone should live or die, no matter what he or she has done. Two wrongs do not make a right. Killing is killing whether it is done in the name of justice, religion, or country.

We kill people in America...it's just what we do.
I agree 100% that one should not take another one's life. It is not up to us as a society to decide who lives and who doesn't. Period.

AMEN
It looks as though people do have that right in America. They have been doing it since the beginning of time and will for many years to come. I don't really care either way to tell you the truth. Do the crime, you should pay the price. Live or Die. It's not my choice so I'm not that concerned about it.

It`s pretty easy to say that, don`t you know that law is based on your choice?

I agree with you S-M, and I'm a Yank.
Killing her children made HER guilty. Killing her makes US guilty.
If it is okay in this country to kill unborn babies and people who have committed crimes (regardless of their mental status), why is it not okay to let Jack Kavorkian make money by killing adults who are not feeling very well?? I think we should reconsider our position on the death penalty!

Trekn, sorry if i have offended you, i always become a little grumpy about this issue.
Maybe we don`t share the same opinion, but that`s no reason for disrespect, again my apologies.

I think Andrea Yates should not be charged for any crime at all. She did no different than the other 4000 women in the US who killed their children on the same day. The difference is 4000 women kill their children EVERY day in the US, and you guys are not lined up to pass judgement.
Yeah, kill her. While we're at it, let's kill all the *******. Insanity shouldn't be a reason to let them live. And how about AIDS patients. After all, they're responsible for what's happening to them and they pose a danger to society.
I think it's a great idea to give the power of life and death to a system with such a great record(Rodney King, O.J. Simpson. . .).
I am not for state sanctioned murder either. Not to make excuses for her, but, like it or not, most of what we consider our "selves" to be is nothing more nor less than brain chemistry. You get these intricate balances askew and all manner of things can happen. This women is ill. Yes what she did was, is horrendous. It is a tremendous tradegy and loss.
On the death penalty, who are we to ursurp Gods power? As long as a person is breathing, there is a chance God will reach them. When we kill, we take that away. Who is man to do this. I swear sometimes we have to be the most arrogant and ignorant of species!!!
I'm not offended, thanks though. Nothing offends me. I just am not too concerned about the outcome. It does not involve me. America has a terrible system is my main point.

Hey Fubar, what is "more than 5 siblings"? 5 1/2? 6? "at least five, maybe more, not sure"?
That was a funny statement; haven't heard that one yet.:D
Mike,
It means 9, not including myself. So there are a total of 10 kids in my fam.

Mike, you might be surprised to hear that Charles and Susanna Wesley had at least 17 pregnancies and 10 children that survived. It's no wonder Methodism grew so quickly! ;)

Yes, I am surprised. 17 failed pregnancies - what a drag.
