Hello everyone.
I belong to no bike clubs. I have never had a cool nickname. I live in cold, wet, windy, hot, dry, humid Montreal. I ride year round, usually just commuting, and taking the kids places, and grocery shopping, and...well, whenever I need to go from point A to point B, or need to haul stuff.
In the winter and rainy days, I ride a small Raleigh mountain bike from the early 90's. No shock absorbers. Friction gears. Simple technology that works in any condition. Mud guards, a rack. I hauled a huge wooden desk home on it one day.
This summer I have an old (circa 1965) Raleigh ten speed racing bike that someone turned into a twelve speed over the course of it's long life. More on this bike in my subsequent threads.
I've been riding since as far back as I can remember.
Onward.
