We just bought our first tandem and needed a rack for our car. We saw Rack Solid (www.racksolid.com) in a drive by before Labor Day. They had a 20% discount and had all the Yakima/Thule/Rocky Mount etc. in the shop to compare and decide what would work best for our growing collection of snowboards, surfboard and tandem. Service was great and no pressure from salesman.
We bought the Thule crossbars with Rocky Mount tandem rack. We tried to mount it today and we realized that the bars were too short to add the Rocky Mount on the side so that we can use the pivot wheel.
I called at 5:55 pm and Bill (salesman) told me that he closes at 6 pm but will wait for us as we want to go for a ride tomorrow. We got there at 6:30 pm (10 miles - LA traffic!) and he exchanged the bars for free, helped us mount it for free (a charged service) and gave us 20% discount on the surf rack I bought, even though the Labor Day sale no longer in effect.
It is not often that I find great service these days and thought I would share it and hope others in the area could benefit. Prices were better that anything we could find on internet and Bill is just an old school good man.
