Well, not everyone's an angel.

I'm glad I found this forum. I've ridden all my life, but haven't had a real road bike since I was a kid. I bought myself a Cannondale C300 around 3 years ago, but it's not really very 'comfortable' and weighs around 40lbs.

Now I've done my research and want a real road bike.

My background is of a long distance runner with a lot of trail running. I haven't been running much lately, but I can always do a 4 or 5 miler. I'm not interested in MTB, I prefer to run the trails.

I read this book called "French Revolutions" by Tim Moore. It a hilarious account of the author riding the course of the 2000 tour de france with no training. It just seemed like an awesome thing to do. And even though he didn't train, he was able to do it and got much better at riding.

My father is almost 81 and rides 5 days a week, and has ridden for 77 years. My mother rides too at 75 years old so I guess it's in the genes. My sister used to do centuries and my brother does Ironman Tris.

That's it from me. I look forward to meeting more of you on this forum.

Best,

Megan

Welcome to the Forums Megsam! It does indeed sound like you have cycling in your genes, with that family background! You'll find lots of advice here about selecting your new bike.

I've never heard of the book and your post sent me to B&N faster than anything I've read lately.

Your folks sound cool. I wish I'd grown up with parents who cycled and still do. Instead they golf and listen to talk radio and vote republican and p*ss me off to much, but I still ove them.

Please contribute often and, may I suggest a Cannondale R600 road bike.

Peace,
Lou

Greetings Megsam. You are right down the road from my wife and I. We are in Chatsworth. If you decide to try your hand at MTB's and want to learn some of the trails around here let me know. There is some very nice rides that are easy and some that are very technical. all with great views of L.A. and Ventura. I would offer you a good road ride but I just sold my road bike today.
