Went to the LBS to pick up my new front light this morning. The USE Exposure Turbo Enduro light. This lamp is expensive so to appease the wife- I have spent the rest of the day in the garden. Brilliant weather for gardening but not good when all you want to do is sort out the bikes for the coming weeks rides. Exposure also sponsor the South downs Way Night ride and an entry form was included in the lamp box. Yes- it is an actual tin box with everything set out in foam inside the box.(Have to get something for the $499.50 I paid for the thing) I am tempted, but I have not been out on the mountain bike for several weeks thanks to the road bike and I haven't been out night riding since May. Perhaps a bit of practice tomorrow offroad for a slow 30 to 40 miles and I will see how The legs have gone over the summer.
The garden by the way looks a right mess as I have just cleared out the greenhouse of everything- including all the staging and benches so That I can disinfect it. In the few moments I have been allowed to play I have read the manual and have the Lithium Ion battery on charge. Did not take that long so it must already have had a good charge in it. I've set the bracket on the bike for the lamp so I can adjust it out for distance with a quick ride tonight. Also read the entry form again and it has a Distance to height map along the bottom of the entry and it makes me realise why this ride makes me so tired. Hills may not be high but there ain't arf a lot of them. Second thoughts about the ride as it is only a fortnight away and no cafes for pie open at that time of night.
Greenhouse is now disinfected and it looks like I have to rebuild all the staging. Rot has set in in the timbers so another trip to the Woodyard next week. Good job I have the week off. Should still leave me enough time to get a decent ride or two in, and I hope the weather doesn't break so I can get some decent offroading in. Don't fancy it if the trails get a bit slippy though.
So why am I bored? I got my new toy at 10am and it is now 7pm. Still another hour before I can check to see if the light is as good as I hope it is. Just seems as though this beautiful Autumn day is going to turn into one of those evenings where there will be extra light for 30minutes or so, and the wife has decided that we--WE meaning me-- can just about get the glass washed down with algaecide so she can work in the greenhouse tomorrow while I am out on a bike ride. Ever wished for a Rainy/ stormy day when the only thing you can do is get out from under the wifes feet by disappearing into the Bike shed for hours on end?

These lights are fantastic- Off to get changed and take the bike for a ride to see if they work on the Mup that is only 1 mile away
