Northern California - Vintage bikes...

I really want to find an old Peugeot, Motobecane, or other old road bike in the Bay Area. Anyone know of a shop that deals in classic bikes? Or of a place that I should start looking? Flea markets etc? I've had little luck finding the things, and craigslist is full of super overpriced stuff...

Cupertino Bikeshop seems to have a rack of vintage stuff, maybe check with them.

College Cyclery in Sacramento has a about 20 or so old road bikes. The old Raleigh sign outside that shop looks cool.

Of course you get retail type prices in the shops. If cost is an issue then keep hunting. You'll see lower prices at flea markets, thrift stores and garage sales.

I saw a Styer yesterday in the Bay Area at a little thrift shack. Looked ok. $89.00 was the price. Too much for my wallet.

I would agree with the flea markets, garage sales, and thrift shops but stay away from Karim's. This shop has been under investigation and allegations of selling stolen bikes. Buyer beware on that one.

Faber's cycles in downtown SJ , 1st st just south of 280. There is tons of junk there but lots of buried gems too.

In SF, there's the Bike Kitchen-1256 Mission St, possibly a decent place to look for the overlooked.

The Bike Kitchen is a great place, and I highly recommend it.

I bought a Pugeot that is a little too tall for me and I would gladly sell it to you. It's a great bike, but it is for someone taller than me.
