Recumbent - taking the bait

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
And that, ladies and gentleman, ought to pretty much wrap this thread up, don't you think? That's the intelligent middle voice speaking.
Oh, and Beez - it's not a highracer, but you're welcome to come ride one of my bents and try them out anytime. Since I have two different ones, I wouldn't mind riding with you anytime - upright or 'bent.

Let me fill you in on a few bicycle speed facts. First of all a pace line with 5 to 10 folks can easily be shreaded by a fast performance 'bent. But as the DF numbers increase to 30 or 40 or more that Aero advantage of the Bent is gone. Your power output to stay out front of the pack will just be to great and they will work together and swallow you up.
That is not to say that any DF bike is faster than a fast bent just that when there are 50 to you it is hard to stay ahead for long.
We have a riide in Wisconsin every Saturday morning. The 150 to 200 man pack averages 27 plus mph. for about 40 miles or so. Even on a bent solo you will get swallowed up. But these same guys on a small group ride will be killed by the benter on the same course. So DF'ers way to speed is large groups and our way to speed is a better bike and supeior aerodynamics.
I just see no reason for this thread or the camera.
We do what we do and they do what they do.
I choose the 'bent platform. Others can do what ever they please.
But this I think in a nutshell is the way it is.
