Folding Bikes - Never again

I tried riding a foldable bike and when I went off a curb BOOM had one leg all scratched up. Apparently the bike wasent completely folded out and when I went off the curb it kinda folded up beneath me. I will never ever ride a foldable bike again.

Commiserations - what sort of bike were you riding? I have to confess I've driven my Downtube a few miles with the middle catch unsecured and got away with it. Just as well I didn't jump any kerbs...But I guess an easy moral - check the quick releases before getting on the bike...

Sure, I'd always blame the bike for my stupidity. Sounds more like a post from a troll. Things like this is why the created the Darwinism awards. I can't say that I've ever forgotten to latch any of my bikes ever.

I can say that I did have someone who thought it must be cool to unlatch my bike for me while parked outside. Unfortunately I didn't do a pre-ride check and I rode off a curb with no ill-effects before I realized it was unlatched. I did have the rear end try and ride parallel to the front though for a while. I learned to always check my bike afer that.

I'd be curious to see what bike he had the issue with. I've purposely tried my other bikes to see what ill effects I'd experience and they were all pretty much ridable but felt odd but not incredibly unsafe. I imagine if you turned the wrong way it could be an issue but in a straight line I didn't see it being a major problem.

I've had similar, although with my sons tag along. I always disconnect the bike and tie it up to mine when we're shopping, but I've had someone loosen the folding section of the tag along, thankfully I realised that something felt "wrong" after a few minutes of riding.

I had a similar problem another day. I was trying to wear some pants, but somehow the zipper and button didn't work properly and when I jumped a curb BOOM. I will never wear pants again and from now on, all I do is to walk around naked.
