10. Don't support the oil industry!

Not to nit pick.........

This point ain't exactly true, mate. ALL manufacturing of bikes takes oil in the process. Yes, I know
you ment that bikes don't consume fuels but without petrolum no bikes would exist unless made of
wood. ;) ;)

20. If there is a mechanical problem, you can just carry it to the store/home to get fixed. Try that with a car.
21. You can find out that a little rain will not make you melt.

Rode home in the rain without a jacket or anything.. my feet got wet (clipless sandals - which have left tanlines) but they were hot from being in boots all day anyway.

A complete tune up or major repairs usually cost me under $50, not over $1,000

unlike public transit, my bike goes where i want, when i want.

unlike public transit, my bike does not charge me $3 to $8 for a round trip in the Philadelphia area.

ALL manufacturing of bikes takes oil in the process.

yes, but those giant oil companies would be awfully poor if all they had between them was the measly profits from fossil fuels used in making bicycles and their lubricants.

True, but the oil used would then last much longer it most of it was allocated only to manufacturing
uses.

"it there is no need.....create one" Big Oils & Big Gov't's mantra.:( :(

Funny... the gas stations LOVE cyclists.... they don't make money on gas... they make money on gatorade and power bars. :)

That's what I hear, some places make most of there money from purchases other than gas. Heck, some places even make money on air itself.

True, but you're not pumping gallon after gallon, week after week into a tank. Also, although rare, manufacturing processes can actually derive power from renewables. We have a few businesses in town that actually make claim to purchasing all wind power generated electricity. This costs more in this area.

Yeah, you're nitpicking.

Do the trucks that deliver to our grocery stores does that take oil? I am not to sure I am still confused on if there is any oil used when we buy stuff from a convience store does a truck drive there? So we still use oil I think that the oil gas jet fuel type of stuff is more used when we transport things between the warehouse and stores and people on planes. When we ship a package etc. Then we drive sure it helps, I don't think we will see the national average price of gasoline will drop. When a quarter of a million or so people ride bikes to work etc. I am not to sure on how this stuff works so I think the only diffrence that bicycling makes as far as oil, and gas. Is were not taking out of our pockets for the stupid stuff. I am sure this is a ill formed quote, but I am not really paying attention

If only this were true! On the other hand, I would be much more likely to be more "pissed off or melancholy" and stay that way if I were driving.
