The world’s smallest digital music player and just $79, the 1GB iPod shuffle lets you wear up to 240 songs(1) on your sleeve. Or your lapel. Or your belt. Clip on iPod shuffle and wear it as a badge of musical devotion.

Its due to be available in October...
This is cool...small and it clips on! Looks perfect for riding...
Now....which of the 1800+ songs on my 40 gig ipod will I put on this?? decisions decisions.....

I just bought one of those for my gym workouts (it's available now and I got mine at Circuit City - although they only had one in stock at the Glendale store since they go fast), but I'll NEVER wear it out on my bike. I want to hear the car before it hits me.

I agree....besides being dangerous, you can get a ticket!
I never use one for city riding....but when I am on a desert ride where there is no traffic...
ie: stagecoach century or up in Palmdale, I will have some music...but I keep it fairly low...I want to also be able to hear people calling " on your left" as they pass me...and I can hear that when its low...

Well...okay, I rode the stagecoach century last year and have to agree that a little music would have helped. That truly is a deserted (no pun intended!) road, but pretty in the boulder-cactus-vultures kind of way. And, yeah, I wasn't trying to lecture or reprimand in my previous response but it is definitely safer to ride without any additional distractions!

No you weren't lecturing, I totally agree...it is a distraction...my riding buddy gives me a bad time whenever I wear my mp3 player..
but on Stagecoach is really did help me...I needed the help riding into that darn wind!!
I do see people wearing stuff in the city...now thats crazy!

BTW..Stagecoach registration has opened...$55 till 10/15 then it goes up and I think 11/15 it goes up again..

Only if you listen in stereo. It's legal to run 1 headphone. However, I like to hear what's coming myself.

I saw that in their email and haven't decided if I'll do it again. I didn't ride it this year, because the drive down on the Friday night before was 7 hours in rush hour. Too much! But I definitely dug the desert thing and there were so many nice riders out there. I don't recall a wind, but I do remember one big a*s steep hill around mile 40! Ouch...my buns ache just thinking about it!

I thought of that (taking the day off and driving down in the morning), but I only get so many days off! Of course, I could play hooky...

I like the new nanos too.

I picked one up the new 8GB Nano from the Apple site yesterday. My lovely wife got me an Apple gift certificate for my B-day and I have been waiting for a couple of months for them to release the next gen.

Should be delivered today. Can't wait to use it on my weekend ride :D

Nice to know that most riders do not listen to music while riding, i have enough to worry about: vehicles, trees, water, staying on the trail you know the usual.
