Framebuilders - Transforming a comfort bike to a road bike?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I don't know if this is possible because I have little knowledge in bikes.

I have a Schwinn Voyageur GS (http://www.schwinnbike.com/products/bikes_detail.php?id=627) comfort bike, and I would like to be able to convert it into a road bike. By that I mean in the very least I would like to have drop-bars, because I like that way of riding much better
Would this mean I have to change the frame as well? How would I go about starting on this? Needless to say, I don't expect anything fancy.
Thanks.

to turn such a bicycle into a road bike will cost you many times as much as a new road bike. An entry level road bike, with Shimano Sora or Tiagra components, will be a huge step up from your comfort bike in terms of speed and efficiency.

Basically, swapping components onto the Schwinn frame will reduce its resale value and provide a conflicted, hokey ride which does nothing particularly well.
