Southern California - What helmet you all use?

I was using a Gyro Pneumo. I liked the way it fit but maybe too many vents. Every bug I encountered dropped in just long enough to grab a piece of my scalp to munch on! Must have been "to go" orders cause before I could reach for them, they were gone!

I just picked up a Gyro Eclipse at a sale on Saturday for $50! I like it! I don't feel a bit of difference between the two. $50 compared to the $129 I paid for the Pneumo, I like it alot! Plus it's white and silver fade. Perfect for riding in hot weather avoiding dark colors. Didn't feel a darn difference having a couple fewer vents.

I was thinking about the black matte Atmos but found out they had problems with the shell. Glad I didn't! I really don't feel a difference between the two I have. Either I'm happy cause I got off cheap or I just have an insensitve head!:D

I have the bottom of the line specialized helmet. I dont even like specialized but I use it anyways. Why? Because I don't care what the helmet looks like and I've had this one for over 2 years ^_^

I've had a Bell Aquila that I've been using almost everyday for 4 years now...about to retire :(

Bell Alchera. Great value. That said, I'm looking at a Bell Sweep R. Because I'm can't stop spending.

Nothing wron g with the inexpensive helmets. I was wearing a Gyro Gila ($40?) when I crashed on the mtb. Sucker is split from back to front, but it saved my skull. Prolly more protection than the highly vented helmets, just a bit warmer.

Ahh, that sucks! I just ordered mine yesterday, and it's on its way already. You should wait, maybe it'll go even lower...or for the new 2007 helmets.

some helmet that was on sale for $35, was half off from Performance. I use it both on and off the road. Has alot of vents and haven't crashed hard with it yet so i guess its still good.

I just bought a Bell Sweep.

The pads in my Specialized were coming apart and the straps were pretty ugly as well. It was a cheap helmet that served its purpose.

Actually, sometime I wish I was a girl so I could wear Gina's helmet! I love it. Silver with pink flames. Brat evenhas a pod for it! I get all the cheap stuff!:(

I had a couple of the Bell Evo helmets a few years back. Really liked the fit but man, Bell has gone up in price. Gyro are pricey too, but I always seem to find one on sale and never a Bell. Maybe just timing!

Blue Specialized Aurora helmet matching my matte silver C'dale bike and red/black jersey.

Got it cheap when an ex-Supergo Performance store was dumping their Spec inventory; but like SDRider, the pads are separating after a few washes. :(

I picked it up at Incycle in San Dimas. They had a big sale this past weekend. All helmets were 25% off, got 3 pair socks. All were Buy 2 get one free. Clothing buy one get one free.

I know they have a new store in Pasadena somewhere. I thought the forum people knew cause I saw a couple of other forum people there. I figure I missed the thread. Was going to post it but thought I was a little behind.

I stopped by there briefly after church but had to rush back out all the way to Chinatown for a basketball league game - didn't even think to look at the helmets! I went to the Pasadena store after the game (5 min. from my house) and picked up some gloves and miscellaneous stuff - again, didn't even think to look at the helmets! Drooled over the Orbeas and Pinarellos they had there, and that was about it.

Atmos. Why? Because my neighbor had a connection and I got it for cheap. Like, free.

I switched to Rudy Project after Bell/Giro pissed me off. I have two or three of them and they are awesome!!!

I have used the Bell Alchera for a couple years but just picked up a new Louis Garneau lid that seems pretty comfortable... report after the weekend.

You know my helmet ;) ! Actually believe it or not, I own one. I think it is Giro Eclipse, so you've done a good purchase. I bought mine about 3 years ago and still looks brand new. :D

Giro Eclipse. Fits great, looks good, relatively cheap and Giro will send
you replacment foam pad sets for free, just ask.

I got a Bell Alchera on sale earlier this year. I hate it, the side straps won't lay flat so they catch the wind and sometimes make noise. After looking at some pictures of pros, it seems that most Bells do that. My next one will be a different brand... anyone ever try the Specialized Chamonix or any Rudy Project models?

Who says a guy can't wear pink? Ever heard of the Once team in the tour? If you like it, go for it. You can't be worried about people calling you gay or something, because if you wear cycling short.

Unlike my usually cheap self, I bought a Bell Ghisallo on sale at the lbs six months or so ago. The day after the Cool Breeze I crashed on an easy club ride and split it wide open. No damage to the noggin, so I'm grateful to it, and to Bell.

I took it back to the lbs and they gave me a new one!
